VLOG 59 THE MEGAMACHINE IS GETTING MEGGGGAAA

yeah its definitely coming along, i was feeling a little overwhelmed by this project but the fact that these massive bus boards are working without a hitch and the second case makes it look humungous is the nudge i need. im trying to get the machine done for people to come see at my XOYO show in london. but who knows. i still have a heck of a lot to do! but who knows.

hahahaha so true!!

catfood jackson! that did at one point indeed cross my mind haha, but i came to the conclusion it wasnt right because of the sheer distance the signal had to travel, also close to other signals, creating potential problems of noise getting into the signal, and even cross talk, as the audio would need to travel down to the pots then back up again. and the other issue was i wouldnt be able to also control them with Control Voltages. which was quite important for me as i want to be able to do things like bounce between the two filters, also there is a flanger module and distortion so bouncing between whatever is assigned to route A and route B will make for some interesting sounds

yep in a roundabout way that is what ive done! however at the pot side i've added a mixer so i can also inject control voltage, and instead of the fet/transistor i have used a VCA which is actually only a handful more components and has a better noise floor and curve :)

Could get some 6-gang potentiometers? https://www.blore-ed.com/ and https://www.omeg.co.uk/ both sell

Yea make sense, the other example I had was https://i.imgur.com/hDmh22c.png but that's sorta what you've already thought about. Heck this machine is insane haha. It's a mind bend! Can't wait to see the final result!

aha i see. the problem with just pots is in order to make a change on all voices you would have to twist a large number of pots instead of just 1, it gets complicated when there are 6 matched gameboys that require the same effect from the "knob" however need to be completely isolated. the transistor approach is possible! but it would be like a very lofi VCA anyway, and i wanted the smooth control of the VCA hence i went for that :).

I just realized you'll probably loose volume this way.. https://i.imgur.com/D35FM23.png You'd loose volume going with transistors too..

i dont think im fully following that!!! :O

Sounds like a POT would work? they only have two channels/outputs.. If you need more you'd have to combine transistors with gated voltage divisions. You could then send the output of one gameboy to one transistor per output channels that you need. And have different on-voltages based on the gate. And you could have a high-voltage cutoff/fadeoff so you'd be able to fade between say three channels. I don't know how to put that in official lingo tho..
