So first of all lets chat livestream. As i spoke about in last nights vlog it will be occuring a tiny bit later than usual and without a vote! turns out i have a lot of projects to get through these evenings as a lot of video projects are sitting needing to be completed and fired out. Amongst other things. ALSO! a visit from Dr Mix on monday :). So this livestream will be on
TUESDAY 6th AUGUST at 8:30 PM BST. This will not effect the next livestream which will be in the last week of august :).
So above is the next steps of the gameboy mega machine. It is what i have been working on on that project since the last gameboy video, in my VLOGS and discussions i have been figuring out the above. WHAT IS IT? Well its The means to adjust the volumes of the seperate gameboys and also where their signal is going to in the analog part of the synthesizer. The YELLOW circuit board is the Bus board, there will be 1 for each row of gameboys and it has a couple of tasks, to route the audio to 1 of 2 destinations (different filters/distortion all that is yet to be figured out). It also is in charge of turning on and off the backlights turning the whole gameboy megamachine into an 8x8 pixel screen... for what purpose im not sure yet, either to play snake.... or to play light patterns or something who knows!!!
The circuit boards comprise of 16 VCA's and a midi to Light interface. 6 of these mean in this part of the machine there will be 96 VCA's... funnily enough this originally was going to be Relays to just turn on and off the gameboys, then it was suggested to use analog switches by paul stoffregen, which initially i was really into the idea, but then i was plagued with the idea that i would regred it just being an on off switch and not a volume control for whatever purpose.
The Panel is called the Gameboy Signal Routing Matrix. This has 16 columns of knobs, each controlling destinations for the gameboys...... Like anything you try to make polyphonic it all gets damn complicated!!! and it doesnt help my explanation is probably making it rather complicated sounds... haha. ill be shooting a video on this when i get it put into the gameboy megamachine hopefully over the weekend!!! so fingers crossed it will all make sense!!
This part of the build has taken ages.... its taken about 3 weeks to figure out. So hopefully movement after this point will be a lot quicker :D
