Hi! Good night everyone Could I use a 6N2P-EV instead the 12AX7?

Thanks for the print out advice Sam. Might make myself a little reference booklet to accompany my IC box. I've already looked for shorts on the board and everything seems to be in the right place. I think there might be a short somewhere else. Maybe on the valve socket. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I've pulled everything external off the the board and I'll give it another crack soon and let you know if I have success.

in synths V+ is +12v on opamps usually and V- is -12V on the opamps

hey keelan usually when something is hot. there is a tiny short somewhere you have overlooked possible. also maybe double check the pinout of the opamp. I think its a tl071 correct? so maybe check the voltage is going to the right places with a multimeter here's the pinout, all I did was search tl071 pinout. its good to print these out and stick em on a wall! https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Felectronics.stackexchange.com%2Fquestions%2F288064%2Fwhy-do-single-op-amp-dip-packages-have-8-pins-rather-than-6&psig=AOvVaw1kPlqC1spKBlRew3L3thLk&ust=1582977704100000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCLii59OZ9OcCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD

Couldn't find a post for it. Built a regular safety value on strip board but I'm finding the output very noisy (maybe my power supply) and terrible signal quality and the IC gets extremely hot. I changed the IC and it was all working fine but still a tad noisy (except sometimes it would cut out for a moment if I drove it too hard, which I think is normal for tubes), but the next time I turn it on, same thing. crap signal and extremely hot IC. Any ideas for trouble shooting?
