Starfinder Session 0 (Video Version)

This is our Session 0/learning session for Starfinder First Edition!

The goal of this session 0 is to find out: 1. Do we like the game? 2. Do our characters work? 3. Is this actually going to be entertaining?

This recording is RAW so please don't expect a super polished experience. But we wanted to provide a video version and audio version for everyone's convenience.

We'd love your feedback on our characters and on how things went in this session 0.

1. Did you like the characters as a whole/as a group?

2. Do you like the Scifi setting?

3. What part of this session you didn't like?

Glade to see a little more love for Starfinder <3

ShyCake

I think we all need to know, does Hulky's character wear the extremely tight David Bowie pants?

ToadkillerDog

This was a fun playthrough, I love your new characters, especially Zoran as a robot. Didn't quite catch all the species, but I think I heard Mollusk, Lamia, some kind of sorceror and I think cyborg. Love the dynamic they all have, and I love this setting, feels like a bit of Star Trek meets Stellaris. If I had to say anything I didn't like about it, that would be not seeing what your cahracters look like, but in a session 0 that's kinda asking a lot so it's nothing important

TankBanger

Sadly to wait for 2E would be several years at least!

ZoranTheBear

Also, is it possible to boost the audio overall? I got the volume maxed and im still having trouble hearing certain parts. Addem: A thought I had about how SpeakerD's character talks. Instead of being like one word only, do what they did in Whos Line and have him only able to say a certain number of words per session. Or until it stops being funny. Maybe roll 2d6 at the beginning and thats how many words hes gotta work with. AddemAddem: Also I wouldnt have an issue waiting until 2e as long as you kept the characters. Edited for 2e of course.

Natacomb

Feel free to wait until 2e is ready!

I see Earndil's really trying to not be the party's voice of reason this time round (can't blame ya, bud). Love Sci-Fi, so I'm biased there. I'm liking the characters, and am interested in seeing how they naturally interact. Can't think of anything that I really disliked, especially since this is session 0.

This has the potential to be a glorious shitpost. I love it and need more. Can't wait for Speaker to crit succeed on something like venting the oxygen later on and actually cause something horrific and murderhobo-y to happen.

Zenet

Ok, keep these characters. Setting's also fine. Just keep the silly and funny.

I was entertained. I did feel the players trying to sync with their characters and I have some notes for Players/GM. Above all: These characters are great and meet my request of Starfinder's team being a bunch of Dysfunctionally Lucky Reprobates. Zoran & Hulky: Your characters should play off each other more. Play with the "Team Dad and Team Mom" dynamic as both your characters seem to be bouncing between morale support and leadership. Odo: I like your characterization, but I think it would be good to focus a bit on motivation for why they need money. Your character comes across as a sweet marshmellow and I'm concerned she'll get overridden by the inherent chaos of the group without that. SpeakerD: I love the mono-sylabic responses, it is very funny. But I think you're missing out on one piece of comedy gold: Supervillian levels of overly elaborate plans. Having a grey space the council is cold blooded and cunning, but it's also wise and practical. I compared your character to Invader Zim, and part of what makes that series so hilarious is that often Zim's plans get in the way of his own longterm success. Earndil: Having a coward character is amusing, but I think you should think on better tactics than constantly running away: Smokebombs, Hideaways, grappling hooks. You have a drone to interact with combat, so your options for roleplaying choices can be more nuanced. Rather than Shaggy and Scooby dynamic, maybe Shaggy and Scrappy? Thurston: Good luck you magnificent fool!

1. really like the characters and I don't have a doubt in my mind that the team wont make characters that can be loved. 2. I struggle to make a judgement right now as I haven't seen enough. 3. Starfinder system is very clunky. I think I would be happy to to wait for starfinder2e.

Sci-fi with fantasy elements is always a great setting, but yeah the murderhobo bit wasn't the greatest. I know it's a learning session, though, so I'm not expecting that to carry over too much to an actual campaign or anything.

Neospector

I’d love to see more when 2e comes out

StarPilot94

Great session, party dynamic is amazing, got a little off kilter with the Murder Hoboing that I disassociated away until the undead showed up.
