Narrative Declaration Update - August 2023

It's your wizarding wiz ZoranTheBear, and we are back from GenCon! And we missed all of you.

First, thank you to those who stopped by the Paizo booth and said hello! For those who don't know, Thurston (OnCallGM) works at Paizo as the Managing Creative Director for Starfinder. So he was able to talk to several of you who stopped by. I was able to meet some of you, but sadly I couldn't hang around the booth too long due to taking on a lot of meetings for the show.

Starfinder Second Edition Announced

We're very excited about this. With Starfinder 2E being the same engine as Pathfinder Second Edition and cross-compatible, this makes future one-shots or potential future campaigns a lot more likely.

Our upcoming Starfinder One-Shot will still be in Starfinder First Edition, as the Starfinder2E field test given out needs more to do a diverse adventure with. Would you be interested in us playing some Starfinder Second Edition once it's more ready? Let us know!

What were you doing at GenCon? Why even go?

The main reason for going to conventions like these is to get in front of the faces of those you want to work with. To establish a relationship and let them know you're serious about working with them. It's very easy to dismiss an email or a random online message, but having someone come up to you in person leaves a more lasting impact. It helps people's careers by meeting folks face to face, so it was crucial for me to visit GenCon on a business trip.

I met with Paizo, and for association context, I used to work there and showcased our show and community. The meeting went well! I don't want to say or promise anything, but it left me with a lot of confidence for more support for the show.

I also visited many TTRPG accessory shops, tabletop booths, and board game companies while I was there. I aimed to establish relationships and open our options to other games and merchandise. With merch being one of our primary goals to get sorted out, it was fantastic to talk to company owners and see their products on display in person.

I wish I could say more about the meetings and dealings that occurred, but I feel it would put a lot of false expectations, especially if things fell apart. But I will say that the business side of GenCon went very well. I barely had any time for myself, and I caught covid, so I'll be resting for a few days!

We will also be having another Vtuber group going through a short adventure in August every Wednesday at 3PM CST. The reason for some shift around is due to Thurston heading off to a memorial.

We're working on so much, and now that a lot of trials and tribulations have passed we're recharged and ready to kick butt with all of you!
