Major Patreon Changes & Main Campaign Update

Hey everyone! We got a plan going forward.

The main WarHams 40K campaign is coming to an end (Oct 16 is the last episode btw) And WarHams Fantasy has a small chunk left. So with this update and changes, what's going to happen?

After a lot of discussion, testing, looking at various TTRPGs, and broken dice, we’ve decided to go with Pathfinder Second Edition for our new main campaign. For those new and confused as to why we’re not sticking with Warhammer content, please read this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/future-of-54448140

What does this mean?

What this means is that:

  1. We can finally move on after banging our heads on what we want to play.
  2. It means we can do things that’ll bring more content for you to see and use. We’ve said before that we struggled under the Warhammer side of things as we weren’t able to provide some of our art, stats or custom content. Now with this change, we can provide all of you with custom content for a lot of things, on top of the video content we provide.

Think of it this way: we can now create items, monsters, feats, classes, trap templates, and more, and then share that content with all of you for use in your own games and campaigns. Along with telling a story that we want to tell, instead of skirting around certain themes in an IP.

This also means several things with the Patreon are going to change. Within the bolded ===’s will be the new pitch for the Patreon, along with the new tiers.

========================

WarHams “Is creating a TTRPG show that’s set in a world meant for YOU!”

A comedic cast of TTRPG veterans, producers, writers, artists, and actors band together to bring you WarHams: The TTRPG show that thinks it’s funny.

Not only do we provide you a show to enjoy, we also provide you rules content for Pathfinder 2E, Battlemaps, tokens, monsters, and more.

Join us in our adventures and more!

WarHam’s Custom Setting Made for You.

We’d like to welcome you to watch the world of Tyne’s last moments. The world collapses into decay and the light of civilization flickers against the coming of rot. Will our heroes make a light of their own, or will their actions just help further the world’s final darkness?

The parties that adventure in these corrupted lands face great danger and turmoil. The obstacles along their journey are crafted by veterans of the TTRPG industry, and then provided to you for use in your own games.

The WarHams party is a comedic take on the grimdark world that they inhabit. The world that we’re creating is filled with divine monstrosities, unnatural horrors and the rotting remains of long-buried threats. The players themselves laugh in the face of danger and horror: not out of fear, but once the horrors become the norm, everything seems to fit just right. It’s a grimdark setting for our particular brand of grimdank humor.

This Patreon was created to support the world, the creators, the show, the artists, the players, and everyone who supports it. With your support, we may be able to stay the rot for another day.

What Your Support Does

Your support helps provide funds for videos, podcasts, art, worldbuilding, PDFs, and other content in easily accessible formats.

Your support financially supports the creators, helping keep a roof over ZoranTheBear’s head and keeping the rest of the cast and crew fed.

Your support also helps make a difference in so many other ways as well: adding more art to the show, creating the PDFs and TTRPG content we create, budgeting development time for more content for your games, and many more plans (that we’re still working out).

Major milestone tiers we wish to hit with your support:

Patreon Tiers & Content We Provide

An example of the type of content we can provide.

*Things subject to adjustment and change

===================================

Some of you may be wondering what’s happening with the old tiers and the things we provided there. Here is what we’re doing with them.

  1. The complication system was very much tied into Wrath & Glory’s system. As much as we could add in a system for things to happen on a Natural 1. We found that the overhead and the balancing was taking its toll. So we’re canceling this for now.
  2. The servitor system we had in place was just a pain to implement, and we found as we went on that it just didn’t work out. We want to change direction to give more to patrons overall.
  3. WarHams 40K artwork. We will find a way to bundle everything for everyone to get this in an “archived” tier. We’re still discussing the best way to handle this, but expect the art to shift a tier.

There are other tiers we’d like to add as well, but these rely on how much time we have once the show is launched, and how much support we have. Things such as a Patreon exclusive campaign, or Patreon exclusive one shots is something we very likely may do in the future. But it’s all based on time and support. If you have suggestions for more tiers, feel free to let us know.

Possible answers to questions you may have:

When is the new campaign/show starting?

We’re looking at a January 8, 2022 start date. But may need to delay it if issues occur.

What is the new campaign setting?

Thurston has made a player’s guide for us that helps explain the world and adventure for the players. In the future we hope to have a better writeup for you. But for now, this is the general pitch of the world and idea:

Text version:

What is Rotgrind?

For the past 300 years, the world of Tyne has continued to waste away. No single cataclysmic war, great plague, or invasion from realms beyond is responsible. Instead, the world has simply begun to stagnate and wither as its greatest nations fall to hubris and indolence. Those few people who openly acknowledge this decaying state, call it the Rot or the Demise. The gods refuse to help, and instead entrust the salvation of this dying planet to the would-be heroes of this era of slow death.

Why adventure in such a grim world? For some, it’s the chance to challenge the Rot that takes its hold on the planet. For others, it is the opportunity to laugh in the face of the coming change and make one’s mark in what many believe to be the end of all things.

Rotgrind is a Campaign Setting for Pathfinder 2nd Edition that is set in the world of Tyne. It is a grimdark fantasy setting with a medium-to-high level of magic.

Why is the new show starting at the beginning of next year? Why not now?

This allows us to create content in preparation for the show, teach the cast the new system, better our infrastructure, get all of the art assets done, and tons of other behind the scenes stuff. It takes a lot to build a world and a show. With what we’ve learned doing WarHams, we wanna do it better this second time around.

Why Pathfinder Second Edition? Why not X system?

There are several reasons why we picked Pathfinder 2E. Primarily it’s due to me(ZoranTheBear) and Thurston’s(OnCallGM) familiarity of the system. Meaning I can easily come in and Game Master side content while Thurston helps develop the new world setting. Additionally we both can help create content for you, the patron. What allows us to do that is the OGL license that Pathfinder 2E is on. Meaning we can actually provide something of use and value to everyone, on top of the show. So legally, we can actually give everyone stuff.

Other systems were definitely considered, but wouldn’t work out due to how long it’d take to play one fulfilling session (COUGH COUGH BATTLETECH COUGH COUGH). The amount of bookkeeping (COUGHITY COUGH PATHFINDER 1E COUGH ASSDNDJNJDS). And other variables.

Basically, Pathfinder 2E seemed to be the most compatible with what we wanted to accomplish. Passion wise and content wise.

We plan to side produce a Vampire the Masquerade 5E adventure run by SpeakerD that will also tie into what Alfabusa is creating internally. But once that becomes more concrete, we will let everyone know if this happens or not.

What are we getting with our money in the meantime? The main campaigns are ending soon, so what do we get?

WarHams Fantasy should be lasting to mid/late November. All of December we do not plan to do any streams due to it being the holidays for us, and we will be using that break to refresh and prepare for the new show.

Still, that doesn’t mean we’ll be silent during the month of December! Patreon supporters will get sneak peeks of the new setting and updates on what we’re doing in preparation for the show in January.

The schedule should look something like this for 2021:

Oct 9th: WarHams Fantasy

Oct 16th: WarHams 40K (Final Episode)

Oct 23rd: WarHams Fantasy

Oct 30th: Internal PF2E Test Session (Not recorded)

Nov 6th: WarHams Fantasy

Nov 13th: Internal PF2E Test Session (Not recorded)

Nov 20th: WarHams Fantasy

Nov 27th: Internal PF2E Test Session (Not recorded)

Rest of Dec: Sneak peaks of the new show (Character creation videos, items, etc)

January 8: Legends of Tyne: Rotgrind - Episode 1

Why aren’t the PF2E Test Sessions being recorded? Wouldn’t that be great stuff for us Patrons to see?

The main reason that we want to avoid recording these test sessions and sharing them with everyone, is that we wanted to focus on testing the system out and discussing how we’ll be presenting everything. Along with some spoilery/behind the scene stuff that we all don’t feel comfortable sharing. If we become comfortable doing so, we may change our minds and upload it for everyone.

ZoranTheBear(me) will be trying to get a Patreon exclusive adventure running if possible to fill in the void. But due to everyone’s schedules it may be tough, so please don’t expect this if everyone's schedules get hairy due to the coming holiday season.

How much content do we expect to get out of this project?

  1. Video
  2. Mp3(Podcast Version)
  3. Livestreams
  1. Video
  2. Mp3(Podcast Version)
  3. Livestreams
  1. Monster PDFs
  2. Items PDFs
  3. Feats PDFs
  4. And more things we get time to make
  1. Monster Art
  2. Item Art (Icons for VTTs if we can)
  3. Segment art from the show
  4. Tokens
  5. NPC Art
  6. Battlemaps

This is just it to start.

What is the show’s schedule? How often does the show happen?

We plan to do the Livestreams in a biweekly format. And release the YT VoDs for the public within two weeks. Patrons in the 5 dollar tier get the YT VoD and Mp3 file of the stream within 48 hours of the broadcast. We have to wait that long because I have to abide by my twitch contract by waiting a day to upload content from Twitch to anywhere else. And to give me time to adjust the VoD and render everything out.

A dream schedule would be like this:

First month Saturday: Rotgrind

Second month Saturday: Dern

Third month Saturday: Rotgrind

Fourth month Saturday: Dern

When does all of this come into effect?

The full range of new changes will come into effect in January. But starting November, we will be shifting focus on updating everyone about the new campaign, sneak peeks, and more. It’s an awkward transition for all of us, and we apologize for this lull.

We appreciate everyone’s support, and we can’t wait to start on a whole new adventure with you, the fans.

Thurston has said himself that he hates being a player. So sadly he won't be joining us in that way. But maybe one day we might force him :P

ZoranTheBear

Now that sounds amazing. I can't wait for the hilarity and insanity to begin. Im curious if Thurston will play a PC when Zoran is the GM?
