Lacio Alwarn was so close. He had sailed around the near entirety of the northern Azeshan coast and was only a few miles away from the shores of Dryessa when he ran into the damned pirates. He knew traveling without some fighting men was a risk, but the small sailing vessel and skeleton crew was all he could afford. His fortune was supposed to change when he could deliver the prize of his payload — a manual of clay golems — to his potential buyer, but now all of that was about to fall apart. Meanwhile, the disreputable Earlham "Two-Teeth" Netley and the rest of his crew have brought Lacio's payload and the rest of their spoils to their island hideout, not far from the coast of Dryessa. There, they drink, gamble, and celebrate while plotting their next move.
