Patreon and Their New Service Fee
Added 2017-12-08 16:51:40 +0000 UTCBy now you probably have heard about the new service fee Patreon is charging patrons (if not, here’s a link. https://blog.patreon.com/updating-patreons-fee-structure/).
In short, starting on December 18th, Patreon will charge patrons a service fee of 2.9% + $0.35 for each pledge. It’s quite a steep hike, especially for the $1 tier. I have some changes in mind for the tiers I might make before the 18th in response to this... but I would also like to know what you think. Please let me know in the comments!
If you decide to pull the pledge, I totally understand. This is a lot to drop on patrons. If you decide to stay, I’m grateful for your continued support! 💜

2017-12-09 19:30:29 +0000 UTCPatreon currently charges creators a 5% fee + additional processing fees which change from month to month, so there’s that... and the new service fee will go to them too. Thank you for staying and, it’s true the dent isn’t as bad for higher tiers, but there are so many $1 tiers and supporters out there, and this is gonna hurt them the most. 🙁

2017-12-08 17:28:50 +0000 UTCFor the 15$ patreon, it's 19,02$ in my case (4,02 extra Tax and service fees bla bla) But for me, it's international, so 20$ (then it's 5,25$ extra for Tax/Service fees) Wondering how much of that you get

2017-12-08 17:01:51 +0000 UTCIt's quite shit they do this. but for the higher tiers the amount becomes less, but there is a HUGE patreon base of 1$ supporters and they are effectively cutting them hard by taking a fixed amount added to that. I'll not drop my support based on 0.35 extra on top of the higher tier i'm in, but i can imagine for some it feels like bit lame. they pay 1$, + 21% tax (in my case), + 2.9% service fee, and on top, extra 0.35. so in my case, for that 1$ pledge, i have to pay 1.59$. Not sure how much you get from that Vel, but if it's less then 1$ then yeah, greedy basterds...
