To access the city, a portal will appear at the start, before any wave begins, or at the end of all waves after defeating Lily. Just press 'Z' and you'll be teleported back to the city. To return, go to the city square — the portal will be there waiting for you. However, I checked and indeed it doesn't appear in old saves. I’ll fix that — thank you for pointing it out!
