Charlus Potter was one of the most ruthless fighters, alongside Arcturus Black, in the war against Gellert Grindelwald. After the war ended, Charlus married Dorea, sister of Arcturus. In a few years, Dorea gave birth to James Potter.
When James was young, barely Hogwart's age, the First Wizarding War started, plunging Magical Britain into one of the darkest times that history has ever witnessed.
Months before James graduated, his parents, Charlus and Dorea were killed in broad daylight by Death Eaters in a fight in Diagon Alley. Yet, they didn't go down quietly, taking down several Death Eaters with them.
Straight out of Hogwarts a few months later, James married Lily Evans, and both joined the Order of the Phoenix.
In a year, their son, Harry Potter was born. The same Harry Potter who would soon be called the boy-who-lived.
