Dev Report #44 (January 5th, 2025)

I'm going to get straight into the bad news, the time that I'm typing this is the same time I thought I'd be packaging the final release but things are not completely fixed yet.
I wanted to set one final release date after the shitty year of 2024 just to show I could hit one and show that things will be different this year. Bad start for that, but I'm not going to let today define the year.
I'm not going to make any excuses, as I've mentioned there was some life stuff I had to handle that ate the majority of my time this week and I wasn't efficient enough with the time I had left.
I thought I had all of the issues figured out and just had to apply them, even up until late last night I thought everything was golden and I didn't have the urgency needed for the situation.
But issues still persist, though on a much smaller scale than before. I'm currently in talks with someone who knows what they're doing and has had a similar packaging issue and they've been helping me troubleshoot it all.
Things are very, very close. In the past delays were mostly caused by issues I had with the content that I ended up remaking, that isn't the case here. It's a miss but it won't be a major miss.
For Patrons, I am offering refunds for anyone charged in December of 2024 and/or before this post in January 2025.

Pledges will also be paused until the rest of E13 is released, this will not be a long pause.
In the past this is when I would have gone silent for a bit, maybe a post on the discord saying I'm still working and things will be out asap, constantly moving the timeframe back by hours as I figure things out.
I don't want to do that, I don't want to panic and stay awake for 72 hours straight and feel dead for two weeks after.
I have a horrible habit of making a mistake and then trying to make up for it by overpromising too much only to lead into many more mistakes that just spiral out of control, not doing that this year.
I stayed up last night trying to have things ready for today, I'm going to rest for a bit and then get right back to it. Things will be released as soon as they're ready. I don't see it taking any longer than by tomorrow or the next day but admittedly I didn't see it taking longer than today initially so I'm not promising another date. That's a mistake I'm only going to make once this year.
I'm sorry for that, I thought this time would be different but that was foolish with how much was going on with life and I should've never promised anything around technical difficulties as I'm not in control of them.
It's a bad start to the year for me and my goals but we're only 5 days in. Let's see how the next 5 days go.

From the discord again, I know some people aren't in the discord or they have been banned for calling him out so I'll try to keep everyone updated - "Alright, yesterday I said the most likely day is Friday and that remains the case today. The final hurdle is animation issues and time is tight as it does involve re-rendering a handful of animations so the update will not be ready today. If everything from here goes smooth the full update will be released tomorrow evening / night. If further issues occur then I will release the rest of the Daliah scene and up to where I can in the Jasmine scene. With the rest coming in the following days. I will again let you guys know how things are going around this time tomorrow."

He believes that BD is in customer service, (which by the way is retarded) last time I checked BD is making a game, his "product" right now is a game in development. Like literally the guy has nothing better to do with his life than hate on someone else every few hours, its actually kinda pathetic. He may also be hoping for the chance to demoralize BD enough to make him fail, (some sick people get off on that kind of stuff) but I hope that's not really the case. That's just a bit over the top. Pledging is 110% optional. If you're not satisfied with what you get in return, the best way to let your opinion be known, is to stop supporting financially. If you chose to pledge for a year without knowing anything about the history of the dev or the game OR chose to pledge for a year, knowing the long term issues, that's kinda on you.

Just keep us informed that progress is being made and most will be happy, but if you start giving dates and times for the release and fail to hit those dates people are going to keep getting upset more and more. I don't care as much about when updates come out as long as progress is made but being told it's coming out on this day and not getting it over and over just kind of gets annoying and disappointing cause I truly like the game and want to see more of it.

And hopefully the full episode 13 and maybe even 14 is out before mid february, but that's mostly because i will live without computer or phone until late april. Anyways hope you are doing good and hopefully we will see this new update shortly. I recently started reading it all from the beginning again just to remember it all so would be perfect timing aswell.

Did you understand that? I mean the definition of it is "wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain". Just because it doesn't start that way doesn't mean it can't become that. Besides I didn't say he is, I said it would suck if that was the way it is. Says no excuses, then says it’s life stuff, this is your job man if it’s an emergency on your personal life I get it but it’s been life stuff for a year and a half, more than 16 missed deadlines and maybe one or two “real emergencies” the rest only empty excuses wouldn’t be surprised if you release the update (or part of it) on the 31st just to unpause pledges at the 11th hour and get payed. I really want to believe you that it’s problems with perfectionism and stuff like that but the timing is just too “good” to believe. And for people that’ll say just stop paying instead of complaining: 1. I have a right to complain; 2 I really do enjoy the game when it’s released; 3 it does not help him to only coddle him, he needs to have consequences when he makes mistakes, otherwise he’ll never improve (not that I’m saying I’m only doing this only out of the kindness of my heart, I need to vent also.)
