I can see Tawny Kataen as Mary Jane Watson although I can also see her as Vicki Vale too. I love the humor of the Keaton Batman movies but Nolan's Dark Knight films were AWESOME and more in keeping with the look and feel of the Batman comic books! Though my friends and I talked about at least fifty different actors that could play fifty different DC and Marvel characters, we got only one of those matches right--Patrick Stewart as Professor X. :)

I also used to sit around with my buddies back in the day, before the 89 Keaton Batman and used to think about famous people as comic characters. Not so much as to play them in a movie, but to reference them for drawing. For me, most of the time it was finding hot chicks like Paulina Porisacova or Tawny Kataen and matching them with comic chicks. Tawny for me was definitely Mary Jane Watson. I did like the Keeton Batman, but was a little disappointed it wasn't darker and more like the Dark Knight, which all of us comic fan boys all had hard-ons for back then.

You got out of the MCU before the MCU became cool with The Avengers movies. Fair enough! And you're right in saying that those are not the characters in the comics. I haven't seen X-Men 97 yet but I did see every episode of the 90s X-Men. I will say that the 90s X-Men are well worth the watch and really do harken back to the comics. As far as having attachments past college age, I don't have that many with regards to music. I'll be 55 in August and I do have attachments with regards to DCEU and MCU movies. But that's only because my friends and I used to fantasize all the time about who would play what roles in which films and what storylines from the comics would make a good movie.

Not me. I've hate the MCU since the first Sony X-Men Movie. I hated the line, "what do you want yellow, spandex?" Wolverine is 6 ft tall. They fucked up Rogue's origin story as well as everyone else. No sir, from day one, I said, this isn't for me! These are not the characters from my comics. Remember, I got out of comics in 1992. Sure I've come back and don't mind them today. But the MCU or DCU? I could care less about it. The animated stuff even fucked everything up, but I can tolerate that more. Well, only X-Men 97, but again, I never really watched that when the original was out in the 90s. Most people, not all of them, don't have any attachment to things past 19-21 (college age at best). I'll by 51 in July, so there is an awful lot out there that i have no attachment to.

But more to your point about Carol Danvers, I agree with you that a Deidre Hall or Murphy Brown-type of actress would be a much better fit to play Captain Marvel than Brie Larson. Carol Danvers is an old soul and Brie Larson is anything but an old soul.

I don't like the MCU for only three reasons: Captain Marvel, Kate Bishop and Titania. Captain Marvel because of Brie Larson, Kate Bishop because she's portrayed as being a thoughtless, brand-obsessed Gen Z-er and Titania because the writers for She Hulk took She Hulk's greatest enemy and turned her into a social media-obsessed fashionista. Beyond those three, I love the MCU although I am more prone to root for the villains than the heroes.

You know, honestly I don't mind Brie, but then again, I don't like the MCU at all, so I guess it's moot. I always thought of Carol Danvers more in a late 70s network TV way, so somebody like Deidre Hall from Electra Woman and Dyna Girl playing her. You know that old /young-type blond from 70s TV. Even Murphy Brown kind of has that feel as well. Brie Larson just seems like a kid and I always thought of Carol to be older. Carol is such an old/young woman's name. I'm old now, so everyone seems like a kid.

I love this series! :) I honestly can't tell which one is more pathetic--Captain Marvel getting wedgied with her own sash in this comic or Brie Larson's portrayal of Captain Marvel in the MCU movies?
