Heaven & Hell As States of Consciousness

For a lot of people, the idea of an afterlife would be described as heaven or hell, a place in which one experiences eternal love and pleasure or eternal pain and suffering. But, this idea is a misunderstanding of consciousness and reality.

That's not to say life after death isn't true, or that there aren't dimensions outside of our current existence now that could be described as heaven and hell. But, that's a whole other topic, we are concerned with what matters now.

The focus of this article is to enlighten you on heaven and hell as conscious states that are experienced right now in the human condition.

You will come to understand what was really meant by the statements, 'the kingdom of heaven is within' and 'the kingdom of God is within'.

The Kingdom of God

If you are up to date with the previous content on the Patreon, you should now be aware of how God exists through you. How the source we emanate from exists within you while you simultaneously exist within it.

Your consciousness is the kingdom of God, it is what holds the God within you. You are a small fraction of the infinite creation that is unfolding throughout the entire universe this very moment. You are a result of this process of creation, you are a part of it.

All you can do and ever will do is create. Even if you feel as though you're not a creative person, you must realise how creative you actually are. Each conversation, decision, experience, circumstance and event is a creation manifested from your own conscious being.

And this is solely because you are the kingdom of God, you are the vessel that is carrying God within, this blesses you with an abundance of creative power.

The aim is to understand and direct this creative power to manifest the reality you desire. We can't ever stop it from manifesting, as creation is the only reality, but we can direct it.

To successfully direct it we have to aware of what to direct it at, we have to give our attention to what we want to create. Never forget this law:

Where attention goes, energy flows.

Let me break something down for you. If you were to ask any unsuccessful person who is seeing no progress or improvement in their life what their problems are or what obstacles are in their way, they'd be able to give you a frighteningly long list. They'd be able to name every limiting factor and negative circumstance in the most crystal clear manor.

If you were to then ask them exactly what it is they want out of life, or where they'd want to be in 5/10 years time, they would begin to struggle. You'd notice the speed of their talking would slow down in correspondence with their thought. Even if they gave you an answer, they'd probably tell you they'd get back to you with a better, more clear answer.

This is much more significant than you realise. Their attention is focused more on their problems, limitations and obstacles rather than their goals, achievements and potential. So, all that they are giving energy to and creating is the former while the latter scarcely ever breaks through.

Whatever we are conscious of, whatever we are investing our attention in will directly become our reality. It moulds our perspective and colours our judgement. It becomes our way of thinking, it becomes who we are and what we experience. It trickles down from the mental plane to the physical.

So, if you are not fully conscious of what you want to be conscious of, you can expect to find yourself living in a reality that feels somewhat like hell itself. And this is what brings us to heaven and hell as states of consciousness.

The Conscious States of Heaven & Hell

The first thing that should spring to mind after reading the title are the laws hidden within it. What laws can you see in the title? Your answer should be the principles of mentalism, polarity and vibration. If this wasn't obvious, you need to go back through the articles on The 7 Hermetic Principles - these are a necessity for metaphysical knowledge.

Mentalism because the universe is mental, everything exists within the infinite living mind we exist within. If something is manifest, it is manifest as a form of consciousness. This may be experienced in your direct life through your own individual consciousness. It may be experienced on the collective through the collective consciousness of all humans. Or, it is experienced through the universal mind, the consciousness of our universe.

Polarity because the human condition is subject to duality. We exist in a realm of opposites, there are no absolutes we can make sense of, even infinity has an opposite to us (finiteness). And sure enough, the opposite of heaven is hell.

Finally, vibration because everything is merely a frequency, a vibration of energy. Therefore, heaven and hell are purely frequencies of consciousness, just like the emotions we experience day to day.

So, heaven and hell are nothing more than manifestations of consciousness that are experienced by the individual, the collective and the universal. They are simply vibrational states of energy that correspond with a certain frequency.

If one is experiencing a 'living hell' they are vibrating on the frequency of hell thus experiencing hell. If one is living in 'heaven on earth' they are following the same laws, simply vibrating on the frequency that corresponds with heaven.

Now, heaven and hell are relative to different descriptions. Heaven could be seen as enlightenment whereas hell could be seen as pure suffering through the ego. I believe the best way to describe heaven and hell is in relation to your desired reality.

Ask yourself, what reality would be heaven to you? What emotions? What would make heaven manifest in your life? Seek to align yourself with the laws that govern this reality and you will soon enough find yourself existing within it.

And take stock of hell. What is hell to you? Hell will obviously consist of hate, fear, jealousy as base emotions, so become aware of this and notice whenever your consciousness is slipping in to the state of hell. Then redirect your attention to your heaven.

I'll say it again: where attention goes, energy flows.
