Random aaoth note —

I think I'm going to start posting some random spoiler stuff (under the cut!)

A snippet I don't know if I will still use, for risk-taker Sherlock, during a pivotal point in the game:

You lie upon the hard ground, frozen, paralysed.

Lightning shoots through your spine, deep dark thundering agony along the limbs. The air in your lungs is forcibly pushed out. Muscles seize. You can’t move. Can’t breathe. You can’t breath.

And you need to tell them.

“I c—can’t b—breathe,” you wheeze with your last breath as your teeth chatter. Your logical brain tells you to save the air. But the part of pain and panic, the basic instinct is to utter the obvious as one final prayer for a hope to fix it.

“Their face… they’re turning blue.”

You hear voices and feel tears streaming down your face.

“I can’t breathe,” you whisper again, with a breath that won’t come back in. It gasps and catches in your throat.

Yes, you can,” that voice… Watson. You hold onto it. They’re here. They—They can fix it. Fix you.

“Sherlock. All will be well. Focus on my voice.” You think you feel their hand in yours, their eyes quickly looking you over in a manner you do to others during a case.

“There is no need to tell us you have trouble breathing, I know—It is alright. All I need you to do is be here with me, Sherlock. Once you relax, which you will… Then you will be able to breathe again. Your muscles, your diaphragm, is seizing. It will pass. It will, Sherlock…”

///

Soon you find breath. But… you still can’t… “I can’t… move.

Watson’s expression solidifies.

“You. You can’t move? That—that could just be the body freezing up, it won’t. You can’t… it will all be better soon. Do you hear me? It will be alright———“

You have to be carried to a bed. Slowly, some movement returns, but followed by unimaginable pain at every turn.

That was that, you thought.

Risk.

And reward.

🥹❤️ Ye, that's the type of feeling I was going for! I'm really glad it resonates!

I remember getting the wind knocked out of me from falling on my back and boy does it remind me of this. Just the sort of dazed, lack of control, locked in feeling.

❤️ it wasn’t falling off a horse, but I think the injury could be similar! I also think younger people have more of a habit of the getting the wind knocked out of them to this degree. No, I fell / jumped-ish from a height onto my back in a… not great way 😂 Feels like we had a similair moment though ❤️ camaraderie in “oh fck this is gonna be bad” moment 😆

No worries if you don’t want to share details, but I’m quite curious now. Per chance was your “fun fact” of RL inspiration caused by falling off a horse? Because I had a similar real life injury that had I written it down, likely would have been similar thoughts & panic & eventually becoming mostly ok but being quite convinced I was dead/dying/going to die/should have died throughout the process of not actually dying. The whole accident seemed to freeze & slow time though. Staring at the sky with my legs above me & my horse above me & just air between us & the ground still so far away until it wasn’t. Thinking we shouldn’t be facing this direction. This is going to suck. Fun fact - it really did! I guess this just goes to show why I play as risk taker Sherlock… man after my own stupid die hard heart! ❤️‍🩹🫡
