I spent a lot of time experimenting with how much quality I can squeeze out of this without taking a ridiculous amount of time. At the resolution of 1068x600, I am getting the look of the images above. In fact, these may be final render images for the foreground pass unless I need to make a major change.
So 1068x600 is 1.25 the size of my typical animations... 25% larger. Going from 480p to 600p. A quarter larger. I just said the same thing four times.
The bummer is.. the quality is quite good, but the distant shot took about 8 minutes to render. The close-up image took 3 or 4 hours to render. I forgot to check the final render time on that. So this will take some time considering the animation is 12,075 frames long. I surmise the average frame will take 13 minutes or more. It is going to slow down TO A CRAWL at the very end of the animation... Lots going on at the end. But I will be working on the next animation on my little computer while Big Blue renders Nadia.
I still have to fix the issues mentioned in my previous post.. I just wanted to get a bit of rendering done so I can test out the AI frame interpolator for the background pass.. I'm curious to see how much time that will save.
I'll keep you posted!
