So... I owe you an apology.
Added 2022-08-30 11:40:58 +0000 UTCI made a very expensive assumption and it cost me a tremendous amount of time. Setting up the hair, I exported 2-point polygon chains as alembics for Storm to use in it's hair sim. It used the 2-point poly chains perfectly to match the particle sim. Then it exported the 2-point poly chains with their resulting animation.
The problem is Lightwave, my 3D software cannot load alembics with 2-point polygon chains. I tried it in Blender as well with no luck. So basically I was at a dead-end. I spent about 6 days simulating hair that I could not import.
I modified the hair to be 4-sided polygons and everything worked perfectly.
So I am simming again. I took some time to optimize the sim more and it is going faster. It is about halfway done now after a couple of days
I'm very sorry. I assumed Lightwave could import 2-point polygon chains from Storm and because I did not do a simple test so much time was wasted. I feel like an asshole.
Attached is a preview clip to show the 2nd sim working perfectly from Storm's sim.

I feel like that is how 3D work is, you gain experience from solving problems, then try more bold challenges. There is always the inevitable ‘I assumed something and was wrong’ when dealing with multiple softwares. A workflow will not translate or a simple checkbox will go unchecked.

2022-08-30 12:07:53 +0000 UTCDon't beat yourself up over it, you're an artist that's still learning and experimenting to push the ceiling even higher. Mistakes are inevitable when you're learning new things and even though you "messed up" you quickly found a solution to the problem, yeah losing time sucks but I wouldn't consider it wasted for the next time you have to do this task you will have the knowledge to speed things up.
