Raina Update

Hey everyone.  Been a while since I posted!  I'm very near a big milestone here.  For her left hand, I've just finished cleaning up and/or re-animating everything with her clavicle, arm, hand and fingers* for the entire animation.  And the right hand is about 90% complete with all of that as well.  In addition to that I've cleaned up the torso animation and the neck and head.

So I'm close to being able to record the performance capture of her facial animation... Animate breathing and flexes...and then on to transferring all of this to her final body model.

Sorry this is such a slog..  But it is almost seven minutes of animation.  I hope you are all doing well.  I'm looking forward to using SynthEyes for my 2nd animation.

In other news, I've been looking into building a new computer.  Not a replacement machine, but a 2nd machine to only be used for additional rendering speed.  I figure I am well overdue for that, this machine was made in 2012.  I'm not exactly sure how fast this new machine will be..  You can look at the specs in the attached text file.  It has the cheapest GPU I could find because all I need to do is start up the rendering on it.  My current machine is an i7-4930K.  The new one may be 30 or 40% faster.  With both of them running I should be going over twice as fast.  If anyone wants to suggest alternate components or whatever feel free to comment below or send me a message.

The tricky part is how I will pay for it!  I may have to buy one or two parts every time I get paid from Patreon.  A year and change later I'll have a new machine.  There's the outside chance some side project will come along and I'll be able to earn all of this in a couple of weeks.  So who knows!

*Finger animation may need to be adjusted when the final body is in place.

More to come!

Great... All I need now is a grand.

Perfect! Then yeah, definitely get the 10850k! It works super well! Those rendering times are going to be IMMENSELY faster compared to what you had before!

Thanks for the tip! It's $35 more but for two more cores that is well worth it! Yeah I want to spend more for speed and noise. I have to sleep near this thing. GPU doesn't matter.. My rendering is 100% CPU.

Thank you for the updated info! On your list, the number one thing I would change is your CPU. Instead of the 9th gen i9-9900k, I would go for the 10th gen; i9-10850k as it's basically the same price as it also has two more cores and is generally faster. I have the i9-10850k and it's just slightly slower than the 10900k. If you're buying new, you might as well go to the next best when it's basically around the same price. If you live near a Micro Center, you'd probably get a really good price. Got mine for $350 and could have gotten it for $320 but missed the oppurtunity. Also, there's a way you can get Windows 10 for way less than $79. I'll send you a DM about that! If you had a better GPU, would it improve your rendering times? Or is it entirely based on the power of the CPU? Otherwise, I think your cooler is one of the best air cpu coolers as I have a similar one myself. Mine is the Noctua U12A...and it's a BEAST. Rivals water coolers for sure! I am impressed with your part choices for sure. But as you said, it's only there for starting up the rending. I'm VERY excited to see the next animation!
