A Tale of Two Talias
Added 2020-02-07 06:57:48 +0000 UTCHey all!
Little update for ya. I am nearly 2/3rd complete cleaning up the mocap data for Talia's 2nd animation. This last third took a while because of some more complex events. The final third will not be quite as complicated.
Meanwhile Talia's first animation is rendering...frame 4862 at the moment. Lightwave 2020 is still missing in action and that is eternally frustrating for me.
But I do have a small morsel of good news. I was chatting with a fellow Lightwave user, this guy is quite the expert on rendering and materials and such. He's a beta-tester on Lightwave 2020. He pointed out to me that using adaptive sampling (only re-rendering portions of the image with contrasting edges to solve aliasing) actually takes longer because each new adaptive anti-aliasing pass requires a new calculation of....rays of...some-such. It gets complicated and I've probably lost a lot of you already. Anyway.. I turned off adaptive sampling and instead I'm just rendering the whole image at the maximum sample size. This managed to shave a little over a minute from the render time. 12:45 became 11:13.
This means I am cooking a little bit faster now and with no difference in quality (if not ever-so slightly higher quality). So that's good. It is a pity I didn't learn this valuable tip a month ago. :/
Attached is a little peek-a-boo at Talia's 2nd animation in her rough form. Thanks for your patience with me. More to come!
