Hey all...
Here I am taking more advantage of the extra memory. I'm making skin pore textures. So far they are only on her face. Those who are interested in the tech details read on.. If not, skip to the next paragraph. I created a "skin size" weight map.. This essentially defines where the skin pores are bigger (like on her cheeks), and where they are smaller (nose). There are 8 or so procedural skin cell height map textures at different sizes that are revealed based on the skin size weight map. Then I load this skin height texture map into substance painter and export out a normal map at 2048x2048 (for the head). Then I use the skin size weight map to make the normal amplitude diminish where the skin is smaller.
As far as when this voice recording will be, I don't know. My voice actor seems to have fallen off the map. She's not replying to my emails. She was pretty flakey the first time I used her, so go figure. Hopefully she will eventually show up to record. I think if I don't get with her tomorrow I will have another week to wait. This is really annoying, but not the end of the world. I can work on finishing up these skin pore maps and the colour textures are non-existent for her body. Only her head is done. And I can also sculpt flexed versions of muscle groups. All of that together will probably take a week. In a worst-case scenario, I can act out the voice track myself, animate to my voice, and then when she eventually decides to show up, she'll have to pretty well match my performance with perfect timing like when Hollywood movies record ADR tracks because shooting on location was too windy for clean audio. We'll just play it by ear I suppose.
Play it by ear? Audio? Ehmn.. Nevermind.
