Honestly it's not THAT impressive. It has a lot of nice little quality of life improvements which are.... nice. Some things will save time here and there. Nice.

The one big feature it adds is it can simulate and render realistic liquids, fire and smoke. They don't even show this on their marketing material which is mind-boggling. It's really not a set of features I would get much use of.. The one thing it has that will really help me is it uses dramatically less memory for texture maps with new caching technology. This will be a big help with making skin textures.. I can push the resolution and detail of skin maps higher. So that should make a big difference in the look of future animations.
