About Patreon's Changes...
Added 2017-12-08 05:42:54 +0000 UTCHello everyone,
In case you missed Patreon's email to you, they are making changes on how they do charges. And so far, NOBODY seems to like it. I'm not a fan of this idea either. I'll explain.
In the past, when someone makes a donation, I would get anywhere from 85 to 93 percent of that based on how various institutions do their transaction charges.
With this new change, they are locking in what I get to a constant 95% of your pledge. So if I am getting more, how are these various transaction fees going to get paid??
Patreon is passing the "savings" on to you. From now on, a donation pledge actually means what you pay is your donation amount plus 2.9% of that amount plus 35 cents.
So for example if your pledge amount is $6, this is what you will actually pay (if my math is right):
$6 + 0.174(2.9%) + .35 = $6.53
And if your pledge is $12, this is what you actually pay (if math is right):
$12 + 0.348 (2.9%) + 0.35 = $12.70
So yeah... It's kinda sucky. I wish this wasn't the case. Now; if you squint and tilt your head a little, you could look at it from the aspect of the quality of my work with new hardware and software has gone up over time and so it's worth a little extra.. But that is of course mental gymnastics and the bottom line is they (and as a result, I) am asking more of you. I wish this wasn't the case. I hope you can stick with me, but I would understand if this added amount is over your budget and you have to leave. I thank you all for your support and I will continue to do my best to justify your investment in me by making more awesome animations and such of excessively bulky women.
Thank you so much!

19.6% Ouch. That is harsh.

So today I had to adjust two of my pledges to compensate for the change they're making. I'll see at the end of the month if I have to do more ajustements, but yes... That move might have negative consequences for many artists.
