I'm torn, guys...

By the way it's looking like another 12 hours remain on the render.

So I've been thinking.  This shrink-wrapped skin technique.  I think it's been both a success and a failure.  It's a success in the fact that it works and the results speak for themselves.  And the potential for growth and such is unrivaled compared to traditional rigging.

On the other hand, the skinning process is incredibly tedious and slow.  It is a new step not needed by traditional rigging and it's just pushing me further behind schedule.  While I like the results of this animation it's been a lot of "one step forward, two steps back."

Should I go back to the more traditional rigging?  At least for a while until I get caught up?

i like your new way of doing things, but i there's a charm to your old style too^ feel free to do things your way :D

I've found several ways to optimize the process, but it's just shaving time here and there compared to the mountain of time required. :/

The results of this technic are amazing, that's for sure. But if keeping up with your schedule is a never-ending struggle, it may not be the good solution for now. At least until you can afford some better hardware to cope with the complexity of it, or find a way to simplify the process, if that's even possible.
