PDF Creator Feedback

Hey Everyone!

If you have time I'd love to get a better sense of how many people are using the PDF Creator on the website vs the Premade PDF Files. If you

Please feel free to leave any other notes/feedback below in the comments section below.

Thanks!

It would be really cool if the pdf creator had tools to help manipulate scaling for those times when you want a giant or tiny version of something.

Since becoming a patron I've been looking forward to a PDF creator option. Saves me so much money on photo paper when I can just print out what I need.

Richard Post IV

I like the PDF creator so it's not the easiest to find all the variants to add.

Andy Fundinger

It would be nice if there was an option to make VTT Tokens out of older Minis

I would love a version of the PNGs, where the front/back of mini are separate files and without the bases. This would be really valuable for VTT use. I typically want to display to players a full size image creature so they have a better idea of what they are engaging with in addition to the token portion.

Just tried the creator for the first time. I print the fronts and backs of minis separately on two pages of sticker paper (one page a mirror of the other, but with the backs of the minis instead of the fronts), then stick the pages onto both sides of a thick piece of card before cutting them out. So having an option to have only the front or back of each mini, not both stuck together, and the ability to mirror the whole page, would be a huuuuge time saver for me and save a lot of fiddly photoshop work.

Richard Neilsen

I normally get the cutfiles.

David Brideau

I find easier to pick the miniatures that a want for my game using de PDF creator. It's cheaper to print too

I wasn't using it before, because I didn't know it was there, but I definitely will be using it in the future!

Love the PDF creator and use it all the time. Being able to have all the minis for session on one page is great help for me. Im bad with keeping minis organized, so I print everything I need and prep for the session and I often know which monsters will I need. Other suepr usefull thing is use of the PDF for mail in print shops. I can send the file to the print shop and they will mail it back to me for a small fee - having one page that is print ready is great help for this. - Would love to be able to have black background on the page and one or twi pixel wide delimitation around the asset box. So the final effect would be black page with assests and think white lines separating them to help with precise cuting - Would love to see all the old assests added to the PDF creator and better UX on the search box

I heard about the creator from your feedback request. It'll be very useful once I get back to playing at an actual table - I'll experiment with it in the meantime

I like the PDF maker. That said, I'm using standalone software to make printable sheets as I'm printing them out on cardboard and need A2 paper size. Additionally, I have to cut off the stand from each and every one of them because I use plastic stands. Any chance you can look into having versions without stands and A2 paper size?

I like the PDF maker a lot. But i've resorted to creating my own with the PNGs until the older minis get converted. But it's a fantastic tool. Sometimes I just need 2 Goblin archers, a wolf and an assassin. It saves so much paper and ink

I prefer the PNGs only because the when I creat my own pages of PNGs I make them super dense. I get a whole bunch of minis from one color sheet of cardstock. It is just more efficient. I would use the PDF tool if I could wedge a bunch of minis on one sheet.

I'm not 100% sure this works for this page, but typically, if you have the ability to print something, there is a drop-down menu where you can select "save to PDF"

If you had something like this, but for creating cutfiles, I'd use the heck out of that. As it is, since I only interact with the cutfiles, I don't have any need for the PDF Creator (though props to you, it looks pretty cool!).

Benjamin Rhoades

Maybe its just me, but Id like to save the PDF page so I can take it to a printer to print. Unless that exists and I just can't see it

As with many of the others, I play online when I do anymore, so the VTT tokens have been great for my play style.

Christopher Lee

This sounds like an excellent tool that will help me get the minis I want without wasting paper. I will have to try it out but this the first I have heard of it.

Back when I discovered your stuff I invested in a curio cutter so I don't have any need for pdfs anymore as I do everything in silhouette studio. But as I'm online now I'm really glad you are putting time into VTT stuff too!

Yeah, it's still very much a beta version and not all of the older miniatures have been updated to be supported by it yet. Glad you like it! It's something we'll be looking to improve/develop moving forward.

PrintableHeroes

I’ve overlapped mine a little on the black outline. I cut out the mini anyways on the silhouette so that excess white space gets used good for me on the creator

Michael

I tried the pdf creator once ( didn't that was it) and didn't like it. I rather get the png and organize what I want

I love the PDF creator. It allows me to only select the minis I need instead of wasting paper. I know the tiers come with the PNGs, but everything is already properly sized and it takes the hassle out of loading several to a page on my own. My only complaint is not all the minis are available on there for some reason. Another suggestion would be to rename it. I didn’t realize it was there for almost a year until I intentionally was clicking around on the site.

Michael

I use the cut files and haven't used the pdf creator in quite sometime.

I download the jpgs and import them into my silhouette cameo and cut them out it works great but would love the pngs as it would help in the masking of the item

Yes! Until then the VTT Tokens have been l game changer. Literally, I change my default game tokens out for those on R20 whenever I can. My players love the added personality and craft!

On the printableheroes.com website when you click on an miniature's entry there's an, "Add to Page+" button below that preview of the miniature that will take you to the PDF Creator. There's also a, "Page Overview" at the top of the website that will take you to your custom PDF pages. From there you can add miniatures to a page and customize your own PDF file for print. Many older minis are not supported yet, but all of the newer ones are.

How do I get my hands on this??

J Wo

I am excited to use the pdf creator more when I am playing in person again.

Craig Shackleton

I love the pdf creator - I only print the exact number of minis that I need, and I discover I can layer the minis (I made a 4 armed sahaugin priestess for GoS). I don't believe all the minis can be printed using the pdf though & that would be cool.

Catherine

I don't know if I should be using a different client, but when I use the PDF creator my PDF's come out a bit funky. I'll note down my experience in Discord next time around. Generally speaking I love the idea of the PDF creator, but the UI is a little awkward to work with, I have to guess page width when adding creates, a 'snap-to' feature would be great.

I am using the Studio Cutfiles and don't need to use the PDFCreator.

Fredrect Fanning

PDF creator is cool but a bit paper inefficient so I end up using PNG's to fit more in one print. EDIT: i realize i mistaken the PDF creator with the PDF files. I have not actually tested the PDF Creator my bad. It looks great!

STEVEN D PHAM

Ditto to what Brett said.

Nathan Martin

Admittedly I haven’t really been using any of the PDFs (let alone look for the PDF creator tool) because I’ve only been using VTT token variants (or downloading PNG assets and converting them with something like Tokenstamp). So I wouldn’t discount the feature - it’s just an unusual time

Brett Lee

Used to use it a lot but I switched to cutfiles and now everything is online anyways

Abel Philips

Personally, I think that I would prefer the PDF creator to the premade PDF’s, but honestly, I only have only really used it to quickly check the back view of the minis, since I’m in the cutfile camp now...
