Next Goal Reward

Hey everyone! We're getting to were I need to get another goal reward posted up. I've got some ideas of things I'd love to create and I thought it'd be fun to let everyone vote on which will be next goal reward.

Poll will end at midnight PST on Friday the 5th.

Thanks!

Any trolls in the work? Usually can find a paper mini elsewhere if you don't have it covered.. but there's nothing good out there!

Joshua King

I feel like the big Goal Rewards belong to all patrons as it's a way for us to give back to the entire table-top community with fun free minis, so I'm planning to just go with the popular vote (looks like the Ogre won it). I'll be kicking off the poll today for the next Council miniature so we can start moving forward on that - i'm excited to see what the council decides.

PrintableHeroes

top 4 and council votes on it?

Kevin Stanley

I think ogre would be great because it would round out some of the "basic" monsters a bit more. Although, whatever you do will be awesome as always!

Laurie Koudstaal

Leaning Greek/Medieval style, but can't say before I do a round or two of rough sketches. I'd like pull a bunch of reference and just roll in the direction that inspires me the most.

PrintableHeroes

No idea yet, I'd have to do some sketches first. Only thing I know for sure is it's hands would be backwards.

PrintableHeroes

I would go with 5th Edition's deformed giants, http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Fomorian

PrintableHeroes

Are your griffons Persian-style, Greek-style, or medieval-style? (YES THESE ARE VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS)

thelibraryghost

Also, would the Rakshasa's clothes be based on actual Indian attire or just generic """Oriental"""?

thelibraryghost

Would fomorians be more 3e ("wild men") or 4e (cyclops-ogres)?

thelibraryghost

Loads of cool ideas. I think the basic stuff is just getting more votes now because its more versatile.

Dominic Wenger

Rakshasa are the main villains in my campaign so I'm happy to see that they're getting lots of love!

Yeah, it's fun seeing what people are interested in. There are some I thought would be far more popular and others (like the Rakshasa) that I'm surprised are doing so well.

PrintableHeroes

Man i wish the Hook Horror was getting more votes!

Josh malone

Makes a lot of sense.

Flowers

my .02cents is in line with both of the above. sure we can find quality minis for most of the core monsters but are they all in your super awesome cool art style with back views and recolor options? I would like some gnolls, yuan ti, hobgoblin captain, and in the future maybe a behir because i think they look cool. either way keep up the great work. your paper minis are the talk of the table every session. I used the purple worm not long ago and everyone loved it.

Andy Green

I've been itching to do a really gnarly miniature with a horror vibe.

PrintableHeroes

It is figuratively torture for me to flip through a monster manual, be overcome with the desire to draw all of the things, and then confront myself with the grim reality that I only have time to do one :/

PrintableHeroes

Hey Will! That is generally my thought as well. While I will continue to try to flesh out the "core" bestiary of miniatures, I know it can be very hard to find affordable options for some of the larger/more epic miniatures like Giants, Demons, Dragons, etc.

PrintableHeroes

Sorry for the novel of posts, but I hope that clarifies my thought process and makes sense?

PrintableHeroes

I see this as a real asset and distinct market niche for paper miniatures; while encounters with Orcus might not be as common as a regular zombie, there are still far more affordable miniature options out there for zombies miniatures then there are for epic Orcus miniatures.

PrintableHeroes

One of the core goals of Printable Heroes for me is to make it so people can always tell the stories they want to tell on the table top without worry about needing to find the miniatures for it.

PrintableHeroes

I like to reserve the Goal/Milestone Rewards for larger more epic miniatures for a couple of reason. Chief among them is it enables me the time outside of the regular monthly releases to really push my craft - more detail, more dynamic poses, etc. The other big reason is that traditional miniatures (plastic, pewter, etc) for larger/epic minis are really expensive and they're just not affordable for a majority of the table-top community.

PrintableHeroes

Currently I try to handle the "core" bestiary through the regular minis I work on and release each month. Typically these are smaller less time intensive minis so I'm able to complete a few within my (unfortunately limited) free time each month.

PrintableHeroes

Hey Flowers, that's a great point and I want to take a moment to follow up on it and explain my thought process.

PrintableHeroes

As both my 2 cents, and a bit of a response to the comment above, I feel like its relatively easy to find quality paper minis for things that would be compiled into a "core beastiary." On the other hand, I havent found quality giant minis just about anywhere. So my personal vote is for new types of giants, but thats also related to the fact that I'm running SKT.

My $.02: I would focus on the core bestiary of fantasy games and adventurers for a while until your back-catalog is more complete. For instance orcs, ogres, their animal pals like wolves, basic undead (you're nearly there--just missing zombies); Orcus is really cool, but I'm guessing not a lot of us will ever use him. Whatever you decide, keep up the great work. Everybody in my group loves your minis.

Flowers

Trust a Flumph.

Ogre would definitely be the most useable

Andrew Cartwright

There are a lot of great choices and the ones I would like to see the most are all in the top 25% of the votes... I went for Bulette.... Because my daughter and I were looking at that recently and talking about how awesome, plus the job you did on the Purple Worm was so good... However, The Ogre can be used in a lot of instances and I was thinking of putting a Basilisk into a campaign.. I also like the Carrion Crawler just because of how it looks and reminds me of the old days playing with the basic set... Now I see why you put it to a vote.... :)

Scott E Nash

Devourer!! They are so damn menacing!

Benn Hart

Agreed. I've seen paper miniatures for the lot of the options listed but never a boulette

P.R. Scholtz

I think the Ogre would be a great idea, as it's a ccreature which popup quite often in all adventures across dnd :D

Woodleg

Bulette! Because no player expects a creature to initiate an attack from the ground below. *cue evil DM laugh*
