v.0.22 Progress report (I)

I'm excited with this week's development.

I've rendered some animations that sum up to more than 1,000 renders and wrote part of the first scene. Those of you who have already played v.0.21 know who's the protagonist of that scene. She looks beautiful.

But what got me excited is that I started to move Season 1 to Season 2/Season 3 interface. I was a (n even bigger) crappy coder then. I need to change every variable used on Season 1 to get it working with the new interface standard and, especially, the gallery. When everything is done, I should copy the translation (sentence by sentence) into the new interface. There were 21,938 dialogue lines (there will be some more since some lines should be split due to the new interface), so it will take some time. I bribed my stepson to get some help from him, since it's a somewhat mechanical job. Since the variables have changed, it's not only copy/paste, though, so he will earn the dinner(s) I will pay him for his job.

After a week, I converted 62 scenes to the new format and interface (that means I arrived to v.0.6, just before the costume party). Seven updates out of the 17 that made Season 1. That doesn't include the translation. It's only in Spanish right now.

You could ask why am I doing this now. There are two reasons for it:
The first one is that I love the Gallery system RiamMar and I designed. I would want, as a player, to have the possibility to have every scene in the game in a single place. It means that, when it's done, I will release as (free for subscribers) DLCs the galleries for previous seasons. Imagine having the chance of playing every Martha (or Erika, or Norah...) scene from the start.

The second one is that, some day, I want to release the game on Steam. It will (if they accept it) be released by seasons and it's still a raw thing I want to give some thought. I still don't know a lot of things about how to release there. It doesn't make sense to start researching before Season 1 is ready. But what I know is that Steam players won't be as understanding as you are, and the transition between seasons should be perfect (no more export/import between seasons) on release.

That's all for now.
