Problems in Paradise (III)
Added 2024-05-08 16:55:51 +0000 UTCAs expected, it wasn't the RAM modules. My candidates still are PSU and Motherboard.
After changing the modules and the computer doing the same, the manufacturer tech service told me I should send them the computer. 2 months ago I threw away the original boxes so I'm going to buy some boxes and prepare the shipment. They asked me to remove the GPU (the 4090 weighs a lot) and send it in a separate box.
The average repairing time is 7-10 days from the day they retrieve the computer from my home, so when it returns it will have a lot of renders waiting to test if the issue is solved.
I'll keep you informed.

You and My Dorm are worthy of any wait never a problem, when you get machine back don't burn out or melt machine trying to catch up not worth it, life happens, all is good keep up great work

2024-05-12 22:42:23 +0000 UTCI didn't know about those problems. Let's hope they test it thoroughly and diagnose it correctly. They behaved professionally in the first interactions, so my expectations are high right now.

2024-05-09 21:46:51 +0000 UTCI just knew it,Trop. You gave it renders of young Olivia to render and it blow up. Everybody and everything has own limits...

2024-05-09 09:56:32 +0000 UTCMakes me wonder if this is more related to the recent overvolting issues that intel based boards have been having with 13th/14th gen i9's like yours - where the standard/default board bios settings were slowly frying the cpu's with too much voltage. Lowering voltage, downclocking, turning off xmp, is a bandaid/tempfix, but it comes down to in some cases the cpu's were basically damaged over time. So personally.. i dont think its the PSU, the RAM, or really the motherboard necessarily (beyond maybe not long term ideal bios settings, but that could be on almost any board), but the chip itself where the internal IMC is crispy, and you need the CPU replaced.

2024-05-09 02:51:58 +0000 UTCBe very very careful with shipping the GPUs. There has been a rash of PCB delamination occurrences as of late that make the high end GPUs unfixable!

2024-05-08 22:29:21 +0000 UTCLooks like you did most of it already, good choice to get rid of the front glass. It looks cool but does not cool well. Only thing I can advise is to check (Or let the supplier check) the fan speed controller. If it is rendering it should be on full blast or close to it. Most can be set in the bios or in software. the trick is to find the CPU temp (or GPU if that is possible) where it goes from idle or basic function to rendering and map the fan speed to it. How to do this varies but they should be able to tell you how or do some basics for you.

2024-05-08 22:09:45 +0000 UTCThis is the computer I bought (sorry specifications in Spanish. Mine has a i9-13900 instead of the 14900 because it wasn't in the market yet, and has 2 NVME Samsung 990 pro instead of the HPs to work in RAID 1) https://epical-q.com/producto/epical-q-oak9-k1-intel-core-i9-13900kf-64gb-2tb-ssd-nvme-4tb-hdd-rtx4090-windows-11-home/ I removed the crystal front and use the perforated one for better flow. As you can see, it has 7 fans (3 120mm intake fans) Initially, I installed it under the desk (with a platform raising it from the floor to avoid dust) but, although the system was relatively cool, the airflow impacted in the lower side of the desk and roasted my legs even though I was 1.5m away, so I moved the computer over the desk. I check and clean the filters monthly and they are pristine. While rendering, the room temperature is at 22ºC at most (A/C controlled)

2024-05-08 21:31:40 +0000 UTCYes, that's the idea. I only used the dead machine for rendering, all the writing and posing were done on the old computer. I will continue as usual, without rendering the images until the PC is fixed to avoid unnecessary delays. When the PC arrives, I will have more than a thousand renders posed and I will put the PC to good use. In fact, I already have ~700 renders to render that I posed since the PC died.

2024-05-08 21:24:50 +0000 UTCI work in IT an have worked for a few companies that do a lot of rendering on their systems. I don't know what system you bought, exact model etc., but rendering batches places a rather unique load on your system similar to crypto mining. Especially with the latest ultra high end components and the new Intel chips especially. It heatsoakes the system and heat builds up in all the components. The CPU, GPU and most hig end PSU's have their own temp controlled cooling but this often does not count for the rest of the hardware. If you have an of the shelve gaming system and it is not on your desk (not under this impacts cooling performance of you system in general and often has a big impact on the PSU cooling performance due to dust etc.) and the fans are not moving enough air to basically hover of the desk it is not cooling the other components enough. We only buy hand build systems now with massive AIO cooled CPU's and at least 3 140mm cool air intake fans in a mesh case because multiple systems rendered themselves to death. All the old systems that are still working we places in a AC controlled room an maxed all the fans to 100% all the time. users remote in because it makes to much noise to have them at their desks. Will not help you now but there might be some tips to prevent it form happening again

2024-05-08 21:22:54 +0000 UTCSorry to here this Trop. I guess in the mean time you will be able to get ahead on the writing while you wait to do renders

2024-05-08 20:06:24 +0000 UTCAww! Yeah I guess not knowing the full details. Yeah the motherboard could be bad with not getting power and the XMP not being on. Good thing it's all taken care of

2024-05-08 17:55:23 +0000 UTCDon't worry, I will work in my old computer (it did the first 15 updates after all) and get everything ready for when TheRenderingBeast returns home.

2024-05-08 17:54:33 +0000 UTCUpgrading a computer that has (almost) the best hardware in the market (i9 13900, RTX4090)? How can I do that? It's covered by the warranty (it has 8 months) so the manufacturer will do whatever they need to get it running once again.

2024-05-08 17:53:29 +0000 UTC🤣 Don't worry, it's covered with the warranty, no need for a new computer.

2024-05-08 17:50:59 +0000 UTCIt just doesn't start when XMP is enabled (it starts the fans and then reboot) and it arrives to Windows with XMP disabled but opening Daz (or anything that asks the computer for a bit of processing power. Even a big enough Excel.) restarts the computer. I don't think it's a thermal thing because it does it even if the computer has been unplugged for a while and it doesn't have time to warm up. The good thing is that (besides the boxes and the lost time) the manufacturer will take charge of everything. The computer has 8 months only and I bought it with a year extended warranty.

2024-05-08 17:39:21 +0000 UTCGuy I hate to say this but Maybe you need to Either Upgrade or Get New. to Me it sounds like something in the Bios got Changed or Corrupted, And that is Never good.!! But Hey i can be Wrong

2024-05-08 17:18:30 +0000 UTCI've had both of those go out this year(PSU and MB). My system would just not turn on. Obviously sending it in is good but might be more and I hope that it can be an easy fix. If it's just restarting after a while then it could be a cooling/ thermal paste issue. I don't know if you got an error when it happened
