You know what happens when you have a scene in mind and want it to be perfect? That it never lives up to the expectations.
You struggle, redo, and struggle again, and it never is as perfect as you have imagined.
That is what happened with Daphne's date.
A week to write and render the dinner. 4,600 words and 274 renders.
The next week (with the leaked update breaking my pace, plans, and why deny it? angering me a bit) has been spent rendering animations. And here is when it got out of hand.
Do you remember when a whole update was around 500 renders and it looked big (July 2022)? Or the first update with over 1,000 renders (September 2022)? Or the first time I did 1,000 animated frames (March 2023)?
Well, the lewd scene for Daphne has ~2,200 animated frames (I need to finish some animations to give the definitive number). Around 1,700 of them are with a nude Daphne on screen.
I wanted it to be perfect, it has eaten a lot of time, and it isn't as perfect as I wanted.
It still needs some work to finish the scene, I hope to finish it around Tuesday (bank holiday here) and then continue with the rest of the update.
I had a lot of scenes planned for this update, but I will move some of them to the next one or I am at risk of publishing it in late January or early February, and I would want to publish it around mid-January.

As always, there were some scenes mandatory for this update. Some scenes can (and will) be moved from one update to the next one. The mandatory ones will be there and some of the optional ones too. My initial goal/promise (more than a year and a half ago) was to do 300 render/10,000 word updates monthly. I never delivered. If I do an update that size, it would feel very short (the average update in 2023 is 2,150 renders and 21,062 words in 37 days). But you know me, I get easily stressed when the month mark is around the corner.

But I don't like to extend the development time more than needed. I'm happy with Daphne's scene, so it's time to move to the next one! π

2023-12-25 09:48:39 +0000 UTCI don't think it's only mine. It's as yours as mine. A game without players isn't a game, a story without readers isn't a story. Besides that, I wanted Daphne's first time to be special. I think I got it right, but at the price of spending more than two weeks developing her scene. Am I happy with the result? Yes. Am I happy with the time spent? No. But the scene is worth it.

2023-12-25 09:45:29 +0000 UTCI'm with those of the opinion that delivery date is less important than what you want to be delivered is what gets delivered ... but I understand the desire to deliver on promises ... ... which is why I sometimes fudge the numbers on my work hours so I at least get paid for all the work I do when no-one is watching.

One of the better stories out there for an AVN with a stead pace of content think taking a little time to get something perfect is understandable and in my experience always worth the wait. Keep up the good work. I know for one I am not going anywhere.

I know this ain't high literature or cinema (both much over-rated anyway), but it IS yours, not ours. In the meantime, remember to have a great holiday!
