v.0.12 Progress report (III)

Yesterday I didn't upload the progress report. It's been a 3-day weekend here in Barcelona, so I wanted to push the update as much as I could before writing it.

It has been a productive week, even with my two lost afternoons due to medical visits.

Scenes finished/Translation: 21% > 60% (9 scenes finished.)
Writing: 54% > 73% (11 scenes written. ~18,000 words written.)
Rendering/Posing: 42% > 64% (1,847 renders done/posed.)
Coding: 52% > 65%

The first 6 scenes are in the hands of the native proofreaders. They liked what they have seen, so I hope you also like them when the update is published.

I still aim for an around September 20th release!

You know me and what I think about it. If you pay me your hard earned money monthly, you have to get a good (or as good as I'm able to do) product monthly. It's all about fairness. If someone pays X€/month for 5 months without update and one with update, s/he gets the same benefit as someone who pledges for X€ only the month when there's update. Totally unfair. It's better to give monthly updates so it's fair for everyone.

But the thing is, you are getting money out of this, and you commit yourself in delivering a good product on regular basis, and this is something very few dev do. Sure, one can complain about the fact that each release is relatively small, but one can just wait for 6 months and then play a huge slice of new content, but then it's a choice, not an imposed wait.

I don't think I'm better than other developers, just different from some. And it's not false modesty. There are great developers out there. But I think communication with players is essential in a world like this where chapter-by-chapter releases make it seem like an eternity between one update and the next. One developer accused me of making small updates (an average of 19,214 words and 1,698 renders for the last 6 monthly updates totaling 115,283 words and 10,187 renders), but I'd rather do that than take 8 months (or more) to release an update with 50,000 words and 6,000 renders.

Thanks, DP. Since the development time is so short (~30 days) compared to other developers, it is easier to structure a weekly or bi-weekly report. I have predefined scenes that I will put in the update and, if the development goes very well, I can develop some more. For example in this update there are several mini scenes that needed to appear, but there are others that I could develop in the next update. As it seemed that I was on schedule, I decided to put them in this one. The update started out having 9 scenes (big, normal, and mini) and has ended up having 14. If I had a 3-4 month update cycle I would have no idea where to start, and it would be easy to procrastinate, since... I have 4 months, right?

Why you are better than any dev? Because you are consistent, you keep us posted, you listen to ideas! Keep up the good work Trop!!

I like these dev reports , you are better than most devs with updated progress. Keep up the good work on this masterpiece of an avn.

Food in Spain is very cheap compared with surrounding countries. A lunch meal can go 12-15€ with two courses + dessert. Buying food in the supermarket is also cheaper than in France, Italy, or Germany, but I can't give you examples, since I my boss... ermmm... my wife is the one in charge of grocery buying. I only transport it home :D

Tropecita Games

I was talking about the Food Market. But i did not Say what Market so i think you got me!

Tor Cha

Barcelona's weather is humid, with very mild winters (you can do without a thick jacket most of the winter) and relatively hot summers. More or less like the Mediterranean coast of France, but a bit warmer. The housing market is expensive. It's (with Madrid) the most expensive city in Spain. An 80 m2 apartment, 3-4km from the city center, can be 250-400,000€ on purchase and 1,000-2,000€/month on rent depending on the neighborhood. Since the '92 Olympics and the tourism explosion, the market has skyrocketed.

I'm going to Intrude on your Home time How is the Weather there, and how is the Market there? Yes i wa there in the Late 80's and always wanted to go back . but never had the Time or Ability.
