Blinking poll
Added 2023-06-02 10:52:43 +0000 UTCA couple of you and another couple of players in forums where the game is published when it becomes free, have told me that the blinking is not as great as I think it is.
Someone gets dizzy, someone told me his saves get messed up, etc.
Personally, I think it looks good since the characters look more alive, but I don't want anyone to feel bad for a cosmetic feature.
So I want to ask you what I should do with the blinking. It's late to apply to the whole v.0.11, since some of it is already coded and rendered, but at least for the second half of v.0.11 I can take some measures.
Since v.0.9B I've made the characters blink every time they are alone in the frame. Should I revert to the previous style (they only blinked when the character on screen said more than one sentence)?
Should I remove blinking completely?
Keep the blinking as it has been in the last updates?
Please, vote!

2023-06-03 21:38:50 +0000 UTCUpdate only for windows⦠since then I fully uninstalled and installed the full version, and the flickering disappeared

2023-06-03 18:55:53 +0000 UTCI think that should be something on your end. Which version did you download? Compressed or Full quality? Update only or the whole update?

2023-06-03 08:42:35 +0000 UTCIt seems to be a misunderstanding about the blinking thing. The player below, NijanDrak, was the one who told me about it, so it's an unrelated problem.

2023-06-03 08:39:51 +0000 UTCSorry, I am one of the people who commented (with the save issues) and have realized there was a misunderstanding on my end... The original poster was talking about a blinking animation, I thought he was referring to a screen flickering, which I noticed happening with this most recent update. I didn't even notice any blinking animations because my screen was flickering through most of the game.

2023-06-03 03:12:33 +0000 UTCWhy are people saving on "blinking screens" anyway?.. there are so much better save spots than that. You have so many static or fade out transition screens to save on where that is not a problem. Keep it as it is. Save on choices, save on "ZZZ sleep" screens... Done.

2023-06-02 18:42:54 +0000 UTCif it helps, you could make one render to test and make a vid, I can see if it has the same effect on me. Better than wasting your time, and computing time, doing them all for a release.

2023-06-02 14:35:14 +0000 UTCMost of the time my render creation process is bottlenecked in the pose phase and not in the rendering phase. Once posed for the "Open eyes" render, posing the other two is very fast, but it is a good idea if I need to reduce rendering time on some occasions. Thanks!

2023-06-02 14:34:42 +0000 UTCThanks for testing it. The blink is a function I defined. It takes 4.1 seconds (3.0s open eyes, 0.3 mid-open, 0.5 closed, 0.3 mid-open, repeat). I can reduce the open phase to 2.5 and the closed one to 0.4 for the next update and we can see if it solves the problem.

2023-06-02 14:31:39 +0000 UTCthe blinking doesn't bother me but being since it accounts toward your total render count, i say minimize it a bit if and when necessary if your crunched on it being closer to a release time.

2023-06-02 13:47:46 +0000 UTCPerson who gets dizzy, here... I took a video of my screen and as a vid I still couldn't spend any time looking at a face... I sped the video up a bit and when I did the issue largely disappeared. Is the blink a "canned" function or is it possible to speed it up? Sorry about this, people. π«£

2023-06-02 12:00:06 +0000 UTCThat's why I made the poll. There can be people who don't like it but don't want to complain, and since it's something that I've been increasing the times I use it, people who like it don't say anything because it's already something My Dorm has used since the start. This way I can get a full picture of what you all think about it. You know me, I love polls and listen to your opinions. π

2023-06-02 11:34:36 +0000 UTCI really like the blinking. If it's messing with peoples game, then maybe they shouldn't be going into the coding and trying to change things. I have a feeling that the people that have an issue with the blinking is a VERY small number of people.

2023-06-02 11:25:36 +0000 UTCThere is no real reason for the saves to be messed up, since it's not a video you could save halfway through it. It's a three looping images animation, but every computer is a different world.

2023-06-02 11:24:30 +0000 UTCIf it mess up saves they might need a better computer or cut down on background processes. Blinking makes the characters more realistic
