Gallery Overhaul
Added 2020-10-18 06:46:50 +0000 UTCSometimes, when I see someone doing something interesting or I've developed a rapport with someone after a number of visits to their workplace, I invite them to a photoshoot. Maybe they're a young girl javelin thrower i pass on the street, they're returning from practice with their mom, or maybe they're the yoga instructor at the Adidas shop, or whatever.
I politely mention that I'm a photographer, tell them that, if they're interested, I'd love to do a photoshoot with them. No charge. Free edited photos. And I give them my website URL.
No one's ever taken me up on the offer. Figuring it was the nudes, or the ropes, I pulled 200 'adult' photos out of the main gallery. Still nothing. So yesterday I pulled out most of the pole photos too, another 200 or so images. From 500 pics, the gallery's now down to ~70, and I wonder if that's good enough to look more respectable to people who don't know me well.
Years ago I asked my existing client base what they thought, whether they'd be put off by the stuff I do, and 100% of the respondents said they had no issues with it. But, still, as a first-impression sort of thing, it didn't seem to be doing the job.
This is one of the reasons I'm doing Ero-Sky now, a place for the nudes and ropes and other fun things that might be impacting my ability to attract new clients. I want them to stand proud on their own merits, so they have their own home now.
It sort of kills me, because I'm firmly of the opinion that nudity is something to be respected, not scorned, and I think the stuff I've done is pretty tasteful. I want my body of work to be a whole, the split is arbitrary and a bit of a hassle.
But, well, the real world may not care much about my attitudes towards these things. Weird, I know.
Anyway, the new revised no nudes, no ropes, less pole and fewer spreadies gallery is here:
