Buffy herself has also made several Star Trek references. My head cannon is that Buffy knows Star Trek because her dad watched it and she was a daddyβs girl, so she watched it with him as a kid. And that Cordy, as much as she tried to avoid it, picked up a lot of nerd culture from her time with Xander.
