That's a good point with Slayers without friends and family. Makes total sense!

Sorry I usually have a bit more insightful stuff to say than 'I liked your reaction'. I don't think Buffy in this episode is meant to be representative of any other slayers we've seen so far, it's more meant to be a representation of any Slayer who is locked off from things like friends and family. Buffy is stronger because of the ties she has to things like friends and family. Note at the beginning she's getting throttled, potentially to death, by a demon, and its her friends who are there to save her. Contrast that with the Wishverse and she's a Slayer alone who dies at the hands of the Master (as foretold), no friends to save her. Also without giving away any specifics, season 3 is the start of a long character exploration for one of the Buffy characters. The writing in Buffy being as good as it is, for the most part, you won't find yourself beaten over the head with it, but it will be there on occasion. I'm interested to see if and when you spot some of it, and who it is.

First of all, Wishmaster great movie. Second of all, love this episode, really enjoyed your reaction to it.

Not sure mass production of blood to vampires was Joss Whedon's idea originally but "True Blood" ran with it.

Thanks for clearing some of that up Vicky!

This episode is great for the writing, acting and directing. The slow-mo killings of the scoobies was particularly well done. Although it’s more informative for the viewer and not at all for our characters. For them nothing happened. A few corrections and observations: The Master wasn’t in the hellmouth, he was trapped in buried church after an earthquake. Angel wasn’t told he had to help Buffy, he chose to do it after seeing her becoming the Slayer. As in the season one finale, “Prophecy Girl”, and as written in the “codex”, Buffy was killed by the master. It was stated a couple of times that Sunnydale is on “a” hellmouth. So yes probably not the only one although it has never been confirmed. The confusion might come from the title of the first episode “welcome to “the” hellmouth”.

I thought that was the bully guy from season 2! I love that they bring side characters back. Yes Cordy should have led with the Xander wish lol.

xander and willow saying they're done with guilt-a-palooza is so fucking annoying like have you guys LOST YOUR DAMN MINDS?? you SHOULD feel guilty, it's how you learn, and even if it wasn't- you should still feel guilty. it's just what good people feel when they do something shitty. all in all- stop trying to be happy when you deserve nothing of the sort rn. absolute troglodytes. the third guy in the group with oz and giles was also in 2x6 and 2x15! in 2x6 he was the guy who called buffy 'fast', leading to an altercation with xander, then dressed up as a pirate for halloween, and in 2x15 he was the scoobies' suspect for the werewolf and ended up coming out to xander in the locker room buffy's "oh, you gotta be kidding me..." when angel reacts to her cross necklace takes me out every time- she wasn't just pissed he was a vampire, she was disgusted because she thought it was for kink reasons that he was chained up and locked in a cage lmfao my headcannon for why darla isn't in this episode- she doesn't support the master's plans. in 1x7 she says that blood is "what makes eternal life worth living" and i take this line to mean that what makes eternal life worth living is the hunt for blood, not just blood itself. you'd be extraordinarily bored with immortality if you didn't have an animalistic nature, if you didn't need to frequently hunt. imo only young vampires like willow and xander who hadn't been alive for over 400 years would be so ready to support the plant. (and the master, but he has, in his own words, lost his lust for the kill.) so yeah, i choose to believe that those are darla's ideals and she left the master's side when he decided to mass produce every single day i mourn the loss of a reality in which xander harris never again knows the touch of a woman. CORDY WHY COULDN'T YOU START WITH THAT 😓 and finally- u were ON IT with the predictions this episode, i'm impressed!

I'm glad you liked this episode. Some people don't. I think it's awesome to see an alternate reality & different versions of the characters. Vamp Willow reminds me of Drusilla but not psychic & insane... w/Xander as a low-rent Spike. Darla would've been awesome to see again. And I've always thought the girl getting fed on outside the Bronze looked like Faith too!

Fauxindigo

That’s a good point!

Chance's House Of Horror

I've heard a lot of people compare the wish version of Buffy to Faith, but she is much closer to Kendra imo. Faith seems to be all about the fun, but Kendra and wish Buffy are all about the mission.
