Die Shrink 156 (Video): Stop Killing Games

Comments

I would love follow-up episode(s) with developer(s) discussing the feasibility of end-of-life removal of online requirements/components for games and going through different ones. From the light ones like "messages on the ground" in Demon's Souls to the higher ones where the game is more multiplayer focused but you could play by yourself or with in-game bots (that usually are available from the start). I say this because I've already seen publishers saying that "it would be prohibitively expensive" to do such a thing. I bet that, particularly if legislation passes in agreeance with this movement, new games started after the fact and having it in consideration would take it into account from the very start and thus the cost would be negligible in the scale of the whole development.
