Tom just got an AMD Ryzen 390 Strix Halo 64GB laptop! Over the next week or so he’ll be testing this with the mindset that this sort of laptop could be much cheaper soon, and thus try to not just evaluate its quality and capabilities - but advise to gamers and professionals what price would make this "worth it". I hear you man, security software easily knocks performance and battery a couple tiers down from the base hardware. It's quite bad in the US Government sector/DoD where 10th Gen Intel laptops (i5+) with SSD operate as if they were a $200 laptop with even simply opening a browser causes 30s or more of system slowdown.

I work in a European milti-national and Ryzen has been the standard laptop CPU for last 3 years

You need to experience some corporate laptop setups that still benefit from sleep because of the crushing performance of the terrible security software
