I have 2 dogs who also found a mole in my back yard. They are Chihuahuas and also antagonized it by pawing and nosing the mole but didn't seem to harm it too much. They also seemed like they wanted to play with it. If it were a cat or a squirrel, I know they wouldn't be so kind. The first time the mole was spotted was about 3 years ago. Late last summer, when I was mowing the lawn, I spotted the mole dead. No, I didn't run it over. I was wearing gloves and picked it up and found no bite marks or damage to its body. It started to rain and I moved the mole next to the back fence. A huge storm came in. The next day, where I left the mole was only brown mush. Not sure if it was the thunderstorm but it wasn't my dogs.
