Gut Check - Is Nvidia leaving Gaming? Is the mindshare damage already done? (Die Shrink Telegrams)

So, call us crazy - but the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB at MSRP...it's not the WORST deal! You're getting almost 7800 XT performance for ~20% than the 7800 XT was generally at its launch, and it even consumes nearly half the energy with better features - that's A LOT better than most of what Blackwell has offered...and yet reviewers, especially in the US, clearly had their pitchforks ready before the cards even arrived for testing - has Nvidia already destroyed their mindshare with gamers? Do they care?

Some day we will likely test this theory if Blackwell cards are ever widely available at MSRP, but until then - let's talk about if we think the dynamics in the gaming GPU market are already, or have already, changed!

I’d wager that Nvidia’s mindshare isn’t evaporated, but there is a feature FOMO barrier that certainly exists for Nvidia cards that no longer seems to hold as much weight.

How about a specific concrete prediction - will there be consumer GPU successors to Blackwell? I think this is almost certain. However, it will be telling how innovative they are - I would not be surprised if it’s mostly just a Die Shrink™ of Blackwell. If so, that would indicate to me that Nvidia doesn’t want to abandon the market but isn’t willing to invest much R&D either.
