I almost went for the 7900 XTX, but ended up grabbing an RTX 4090. I am sure I would have been very happy either way though.

Feel better Tom and Dan! I know that allergies have been horrible in my part of the US (PACNW). Lots of stuffy noses, red eyes, sneezing, etc. This was an insightful discussion. Tom, are you saying you don't really like having to install MSI Afterburner for overclocking? I mean, it is okay and it does give you stats in game. But if AMD has overclocking with their cards, that is a good thing! Nvidia has horrible software control; and that is not good, when you consider the higher cost on Nvidia's cards. It pisses me off. I am fine with Afterburner, but it would be nice to have software for OC included. I only have a 2070 Super, thus, crappy OC as stands lol.

Got a 7900xt once it hit $800 with the Last of Us bundle. It's a big upgrade over my 5700xt, and been running well. Only issue I noticed was micro stuttering when using dual monitor, which driver release notes have said is a known issue. Haven't tested recent drivers yet tho
