I see thrown around the idea that the Vision Pro is a device that has "no target audience" yet and even Apple still doesn't really know who they want to sell this to and that's reflected in the overly generic presentation What are your thoughts? Do you think Apple has a clear target audience in mind?

This happened with the Apple Watch and even the iPhone. What more do you think it needs, be it more features/apps, improved tech/performance, or simply a lower price, to make it more attractive? Personally even as an apple fan (daily drive MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPad, etc) and a VR enthusiast I can't really fathom wanting this even at a third the price. Second question, what ideas / features do you think other VR manufacturers may mimic? How much do you think this pushed the industry as a whole forward? Edit: Please discuss in detail the fact that the uncanny valley FaceTime calls are creepy AF

2023-06-15 19:07:53 +0000 UTCI'm definitely excited by the Vision Pro. It looks like the first headset that captures the promise of what Gabe Newel talked about over five years ago where it can actually be a display replacement. I'll be looking to get one for development experiments. Q1: Do you have any information on the development roadmap of the micro-OLED displays? Is it reasonable to expect some amount of gen-over-gen progress? Q2: What do you think the high price will do to the market? To my mind, it gives other companies a lot of wiggle room. If Valve's "Deckard" is somewhat as capable and costs ~$2,500 to do it, that would seem like a great deal compared to Vision Pro.
2023-06-15 13:39:47 +0000 UTCVision Pro seems like a techboys dream. I'm wondering at scale what the BOM cost would be? I hear rumors that Apple may make a less expensive version of this tech. Honestly the first version of any new to Apple tech is prohibitively expensive.
