Discussing RDNA 3, Lovelace, and more w/ AdoredTV

Broken Silicon's next episode will see the return of Jim from AdoredTV.  We plan to heavily discuss:

Obviously this episode will weigh the discussion heavily towards today's releases...but don't be afraid to ask about anything else regarding this year's and next year's product launches :).

Also note that a video will be coming out today with leaks about RDNA 3 volume, AIB Clock Speeds, and addressing the idea that RDNA 3 has "Flaws"...so waiting till later tonight or early tomorrow morning isn't a bad idea if you want to receive more context before you submit.  Having said that, you have ~16 hours to submit below (Till late Tuesday Morning US Central Time).  So do note the time limit!

Either way be concise, respectful, and use good grammar to be considered.

Hi Tom and Jim, I would like to know what do you think the next big APUs bring to the table especially Strix Halo. I am fairly exited about the APU potential and uniqueness but right now, the more i picture It in my mind the harder it is to imagine an ideal platform to carry it. With 40/65W what kind of machine would be best suited for? laptop or mini pc? Consolle or handhelds? There are already machines that dissipate that much wattage? How big are they? Thanks in advance.

Hey whats the ETA for the cast? in 4 hours?

Hi Tom and Jim! Been subscribed to both of your channels for a while now, love listening to your thoughts. With that being said, AdoringTV made a bold prediction stating that AMD will win the next-gen performance crown. Considering how good the 4090 is, do you still hold that belief?

ManBearPig

AMD got something wrong with their execution of Navi 31, but what about their strategy? With the same R&D budget would you have made different design choices or focused more on certain areas at the expense of others?

Chris Rijk

Hey Tom and Jim, Given how the 7900 XTX/XT launch panned out, what adjustments might AMD make to its RDNA 3 release strategy? It seems likely that CES is not going to have anything besides driver related stuff, but would they feel like moving up Navi 32/33 releases earlier, or push them back to make sure they nail any and all driver bugs that might be compromising inter-chiplet communication?

Cleansweep

Alright guys, how`s it going? My favorite Tech-World leakers are finally back on a discussion, I love the indepth research you both do on your channels. Here's a question to both of you, Tom and Jim. AMD has started using 3D Cache on their products with Zen 3 and the upcoming Zen 4 CPUs will have it aswell, giving us more performance in some instances like gaming. Will this technologie stay with AMD exclusively for a good while or might Intel and Nvidia already be working on their own version of stacked cache? And do you think AMD will use it in a refresh of their RX 7000 series GPUs to push performance closer to Nvidia's 4090 (or 4090ti) or might they have more problems with their MCD (AMD) architecture? Cheers from Germany.

Hello to Everyone. Let me tell you and your viewers what I experienced out here in Komifornia. I was lined up at 5:30 am this morning in front of my local Microcenter. There were like 300 people ahead of me. I had no idea it would be like this and neither did the store as I had asked. The line for my store was larger than the pictures of the 4090 release. Larger than the 4090 release!! I am very sure by now they are sold out. I did not buy a card even though I waited in line. I want a 3x8-pin version of the XTX and that was sold out by the time i had my choice. The only models left were the Reference models rebranded by various AIB partners. I am guessing the other Microcenters are going to report much the same thing. SOLD OUT MAN! Over on the AMD Forums, one commenter stated he did the same thing at Best Buy and was sold out before he had the chance to buy one. This is amazing and good for us as buyers. We need AMD to be successful.

Hi Tom and Jim, with the 4070 Ti launching on January 5th, not only is it right after the start of the new year, but launches on the first day of CES, which many tech reviewers will be attending, probably resulting in them not having as in-depth of a review for the card as they normally would as they prepare for CES. Also, with the performance of the 7900 series being revealed, how do you think this will affect pricing for the 4070 Ti? With the problems with RDNA 3 that you noted in your latest video, what effect will this have on Navi 32 and 33 desktop and laptop cards, and also on Phoenix and other RDNA 3 APUs?

Brink0fDestruction

Hey Tom and Jim. Do you think that it would have been best for RTG to sit out this generation (at least at the high end) and let the market ruin itself? RDNA 3 certainly has good margins but I feel any silicon would be better served for CPU or server. Seeing hardware unboxed's conclusion for the XTX saying you might as well go spend the additional 20% for a 4080 makes me think AMD needs to get out of the way of nvidia's price gouging, it's what people vote for.

Knowing what we know now, should the 7900xtx/xt have been the 7800xt & 7800? They've positioned these as 4080 competitors but with a bit of perspective, bad pricing just not as bad as Nvidia. Would a "7800xt" in the same configuration as the 7900xtx at $749 have been more poised to take market share?

B. Fish

Hello Jom and Tim, do you know what the 7900xtx costs to produce? How much lower could they drop the price if necessary to match the inevitable price drop of the 4080?
