That was fun! Based on the intro it sounds like he works for the NRO developing computer systems for Military satellites. That’s some of the most sensitive technology in the DOD so I understand his caution. The NRO’s work is so highly classified that the public didn’t even know the agencies name until it was de-classified after the end of the Cold War. 😂

My dad AND my mom worked at Intel… had to flex… Loved this episode. Thanks for the great content and bringing awesome guests on.

What a rush. I am a dumb person who just had a nuclear bomb of knowledge dropped upon me. Listening to someone make the complex understandable is mesmerizing. I will probably replay this at least five times. Great job Tom and guest.

I think the performance jump matters more to people who dont upgrade as often. I got a 3090 with a 10 year warranty from evga at msrp. 1800 bucks total, yeah its a lot, but I made money selling my 3070 to miners so offset a large cost. But I play 165hz 1440p right now, with a second 1440p 144hz monitor in portrait mode. I expect to use this card for a while. My view is I can avoid upgrading to the next gen of gpu’s. Meanwhile people buying 60 and 70 class cards might feel the need to upgrade every gen to the new 70 class card as the performance gains are noticeable. But for me I might see if I can get a 4080 FE if they price it at the same 700 (I would even accept 800 ) just because we see how quickly these cards sell out, not to mention the huge memory bandwidth increases could easily lead to another crypto boom if prices ever spike again. But if I don’t manage to get a card on launch week ill just wait till 2024 or something.
