It would be amazing to get some anonymous engineers on from AMD or Nvidia from the HD 4000 / Kepler era.

Undercooked is the new underclocked yo.. you knoe

I am running 2 pcs with i5 from 2014 and rx 480 and gtx 750 ti for my kids game room setup. My 10 year old keeps up with me on fps games and I have a gtx 1080 and 144hz monitor.. ijs.. you don't need more than a couple hundred bucks to start playing 80% of recent games and especially esports titles like apex legends. I'm undercooked to 80% power and still get 144 locked.

How to keep older PC parts relevant for a little while longer until they go to the big E-waste pile of doom. Building lower spec computers for people who don't do anything taxing on older hardware to keep it running just that little bit longer.

A 'What if...' episode could be fun. Speculating on how things may have turned out if... * Intel or nVidia provided hardware for the PS5 and/or Xbox Series * Mining didn't boom just before the 2020 graphics cards launches * YouTubers including MLID, RedGamingTech, Hardware Unboxed, etc didn't hype up the 2020 graphics cards by releasing many videos about them before release * COVID didn't result in factory and logistics shutdowns It can also go the other way. What if... * China attempts to take over Taiwan * Taiwan runs out of water * etc Feel free to add your own.

I would love to hear your thoughts on what will be the advantage to AMD from the Xilinx acquisition. The Xilinx Virtex UltraScale+ FPGA with High Bandwidth Memory is one of the things I look forward to see how AMD might benefit from. Xilinx is also working with NEC of some 5G stuff that might help AMD venture into the cell phone market.

True but we are a thoughtful channel so hopefully we will take on this as a series perhaps(fingers crossed)

This is interesting but difficult topic in that there are dozens high quality articles and youtube video series of this + books, so taking angle, viewpoint benefiting MLID takes some thought. I like this episode short reference to knockback podcast which had more details, so 2hour broken silicon/1hour die shrink wont bloat to 3hours easily in this :D

We could have an episode on game engines. Is the industry moving towards most games being made on fewer big engines? Beyond saving money for big studios, what benefits does a custom engine have? There could also be a discussion of games that used either approach and how it worked out.

Laz

I think there could be an episode of discussing technically interesting games such as Teardown (full destruction+a lot of ray tracing) This could also include past games with interesting engines and their effect on the industry.

Laz

I dunno Tom, I think you should do a series on gaming as in all start with the Atari 2600, Intellivision, Colecovision, Nintendo (NES) and go forward. Go into what led those titans to get into gaming? , what did they learn?, why did the Atari consoles die after basically introducing the world to console gaming and such, I think it would be fun to hear the stories.

Dr Forbin

I don't know whether I've missed older episodes containing such content but, I really enjoyed the stories you've told recently about Sony falling out with Nintendo and what it led to. So episodes about conflict between companies pushing development of hardware forward? What about an episode on the behind the scenes thinking/stories for why Microsoft decided to get into consoles? Keep up the great work!
