Die Shrink 56: Online Hackers – Are Multiplayer Shooters Doomed?

We've been dealing with hackers & griefers since the old Halo 1, SOCOM, and the old Metal of Honor Games.  They've been around, and they're still around. So if cheaters aren't going away, are games getting better...or worse at dealing with them?

We discuss our oldest memories of cheaters, greifers, and exploiters; and also what can be done to stop them.  At this point, we aren't afraid to propose some radical barriers to cheating.

I cheated in Cyberpunk to unlock the best car in the game then I uninstalled the cheats

I never cheated in an online game but I do so very regularly on single-player games. Lately, I've been using Cheat Engine and the like to combat the grind Devs have been throwing in to force you to buy XP boosts. Tales of Arise being the most recent offender.

Tom and Dan hate to admit it but on some games I played in the past (not now) I actually paid a hacker to level up because simply everyone that met was doing it for competitive advantage. I just got sick of losing to people with superior armor and arms.
