Call it Tom Time lol or Tom Unlocked

Tom, this is the third FOS I have listened to. We all have opinions, you can have them. You just have a forum that you can expres them aloud. Free speech is a lost artform. Too bad we cannot have a free exchange of ideas without the toxicity that exist out there.

I am excited to think there could be a podcast, made by Tom, that covers topics outside of the gaming space. This could be a way to find new supporters that may not look for gaming podcast. A podcast about the rise of Disc Golf or a restaurant franchisee may lead a viewer to Tom's other content.

My last year in college I shared back to back classes with a long break in-between with Ismail and Baran, exchange students from Turkey. For nine months we had many discussions of the World, life and so much more despite having some concepts which were light years apart. From those discussions we not only learned different perspectives from each other but more importantly what we had in common. In the 16 years since those many cups of coffee and meals I have not been party to nearly as many rational, calm and learned discussions with my own fellow citizens here in the USA. And, if you haven't read them check out Taliban by Ahmed Rashid and Kill Bin Laden by Dalton Fury. Between the two they encapsulate why what just happened unfolded the way it did. And here, here for (as Matthew stated) having the courage for this. Huzzah!

I definitely love discussing history, politics, and philosophy. I totally agree that you have to find the right people to do that with though. You have to be willing to dig deep, not only into the topic, but who you're having a discussion with but introspectively as well. Society is just way too polarized and volatile right now. I honestly give you kudos for having the courage to put those types of opinions and thoughts out on the internet at all and certainly understand your aversions to continuing to do so especially when it's both an opportunity cost timewise to MILD but could also jeopardize from a social or cancel culture perspective. Also, we're pretty close in age, so definitely could relate to the being school the morning of 9/11. Definitely weird to think about.

I'm really sad to hear that FOS could be over. I've been listening since at least early 2019, and never could seem to find this mysterious series, nor what it was about. Having heard it for the first time with episode 9, I really like what you have to say, because I appreciate the critical eye and analysis your perspective brings. The fact that people are ruining the creative process by attaching their ego to things that are not them (i.e. their political party, whatever) is the plague of our time 🙁
