Die Shrink 54: Google Glass & Early Wearables

Comments

I feel like MS Hololens went the right direction for "wearables" given I'm really stretching the definition of wearable here. The tech is big and bulky but ultimately it IS that sci-fi holo projection / AR engineering tool / virtual workspace HUD. MS knew it would be niche so they've been tailoring it to the professional space exclusively (not to mention defense sector) and I think that was good foresight for them to not pretend it was going to be a revolution for everyone but definitely a revolution for some. Much like Sony I think MS has had a poor track record of being early to a good idea and failing to capitalize, although they've been getting better over the years.
