11:58 remember what his mom was like😏? BTW, it wasn't only you, but there were many reactors who needed to look up what requisition means. I read/watch in Japanese, and I actually needed to look up the meaning of this word, too while reading..

also the fact that Canute's methods were cruel no doubt but he also did good reforms (such as banning pillaging off the lands they conquer). Askeladd probably saw the capability and the will to change in Canute. But maybe what he couldnt foresee is the curse of the crown. Sweyn wasnt capping when he said the crown had a will of its own. Obviously this is all metaphorical and basically shows that great power would corrupt even the most determined of ppl. Canute, who Askeladd believed in, is simply another one that fell to the influence of the crown. Well his story isnt over yet so we dunno where its gonna take him. Will he be consumed by it or somehow find the path to break free of the curse

Yeah, I got you. Time will tell. Let's not forget about Thorkell. Despite being who he is, he also is a good judge of character. Good enough that he sensed the same qualities he had seen in Thors' eyes, in Canute's, back in season 1. And in this season, he came to him with a reminder that he's still looking at what he's becoming.

Good point. Askeladd did call Sweyn a smart man though, so what I mean is that he seemed to think Canute would do some good that other kings wouldn't.

One of the differences is already shown when he took over England, as Asgeit mentioned. It took Sweyn 10 years to try what Canute accomplished in 3 (through cunning, not just brute force)
Surely, there's more to be shown of course.

The way Canute's been operating is sorta calling into question what Askeladd saw in him. He saw Canute's aggressive side toward the end of season 1, and their first conversation with King Sweyn showed that Sweyn also had good intentions when he usurped his own father, so we still have yet to see what Askeladd thought would distinguish Canute from other kings.
