I dont thinkt it at all. I guess that the "how" they choose show to us the techniche is that is a asspull.
They could have done transitions and showed the eyes movements, cutting the scenes. But they vote to simply make the character dissapearing...

They are saying that using Kurokos misdirection overflow means that his normal misdirection wont work against Touou in the future. So by choosing to use it in this match they are destined to have to fight them in the coming years without Kuroko because he will be useless then.

Seirin's abandoning their future means that after using Misdirection Overflow now Kuroko's Misdirection and Vanishing Drive won't ever again work on current Touou team. Basicly Seirin is accepting possibility of them never again being able to beat Touou if it means that thay can win Winter Cup this year while Teppei is still playing with them
