I think you will understand better when you know more about Akashi, he's my fav character in this anime. Murasakibara knows he will lose against Akashi because not only he's the best one at the Miracle Generations, also his team is the best.

The reason why it never bothered me how the GOM act is because they’re kids. They are just kids in middle school who have never experienced loss because they’re just way better then every one. So an ego is going to eventually form.In their mind it’s probably offensive when someone tell them they’re gonna beat them. In their mind. They’re probably thinking it’s pretty disrespectful for this random person to say that when they’ve never lost and 100% believe in their talent.

Whether aomine played or not had nothing to do with Murasakibara since they were not gonna face each other either way. Mura's team played Akashi's team in the semi-final. That is when Akashi told him not to play and he complied. The reason Akashi did not play the final against Aomine is because aomine was benched and Akashi believed that his team would win without him playing since aomine could not play.

From Murasakibara's short monologue about Kiyoshi about "why is he trying so hard if defeat is certain", it can also be inferred that he didn't want to play against Akashi for the exact same reason - he knows he can't beat him from middle school, so there's no point in trying. And literally no team can win against a team with a Generation of Miracles, so Akashi sat out as well to make the game more even. Otherwise, it'd be too easy.

Murasakibara being picky too as if I needed more reason to dislike him 😩 I thought it was cause akashi just told him to not play full stop I didn't get that it was cause aomine wasn't in as well. I can't with this circle jerk of "I DOnT Wanna PlAy cAusE The BeST is NoT on The FielD 👶🏻👶"

I think its inferred that Akashi didnt play because Aomine was also out. So there was no point in him nor Murasakibara from playing as it wouldnt be "interesting". Plus they mentioned Murasakibara didnt want to go up against him anyway so it works out

Omg your cat is so adorable I'm- aaaaaaa, I'm happy it gets plenty of love from you! Momoi came there with the first thing being "Is Tetsu here?" so it's not particularly running to them for her problem but to him, since they were in middle school together :P From Teiko, he's by far the most approachable to talk about this Aomine problem. All the others pretty much are too focused on themselves to care. One option would have been Kise, but besides preferring Kuroko herself, she probably would feel awkward as the one who helped Touou Academy beat Kaijo. See, I remember disliking Murasakibara way more than Aomine, because while their attitude towards others is similar in their harshness and selfishness, Aomine has a true love for the sport and he felt betrayed by others, which turned him into a more asshole-y version of himself. Atsushi is just like the party pooper lol, "I'm too good at this but you suck so I'm gonna rub it in just for the sake of it" is how he came as, on this first approach. Look forward to learning about the old days of the Miracles! I think you'll like it a lot hehe
