its just a trope that is used for comedic gap moe effect. its like how every shounen mc is dumb af until a battle rolls over. then they become 1000 iq geniuses but only during battle. Naruto, Luffy, Goku, Ichigo, Natsu, Yuuji, Kageyama/Hinata, Denji, Yor. These guys act like theyre 10 yrs old for majority of the time and then randomly turn up during combat. They try to mix humor in the show by making these characters look like air heads than normal and have them be savages in combat. It just doesnt work as well no more cuz theres so many of them. And to be fair, Kuroko (the manga) started like in 2008 so they one of the older ones xD

The exact same thing came to mind but I didn't even want to bring it up cause I already had a fit talking about it when it was with Yor and I was like ugh it's the same "she's so oopsie doopsie dumb dumb 🥺 she can't even chop a bunch of vegetables" thing so I just roll my eyes when I see it these days and move cause I'm over it 😩

My mum is the midorima I didn't ask for she's always telling me the harsh truth when we're shopping. With my ex, I used to tell her afterward that I didn't really like something so that she would say it to her mom, so the message wouldn't sting as much as if I said it outright myself. Forcing yourself to eat something you visibly don't like, people aren't stupid they'll notice over time and feel bad about it on their side of things as well. I know what you meant in general about not wanting anyone like Midorima in your life, but I tend to disagree on that front. Sometimes in life, you need the kind of people who will tell you without detours some harsh things. It makes you realize things about yourself you wouldn't notice otherwise with everyone else tip-toeing around you. I learned that myself at my previous work, which changed the way I do things in a more positive light. Under the 50% of just sounding mean, there's also the part that's trying to make you realize things in their own way. There's one sentence he said that's true about Kuroko's current predicament, and that you'll only realize once he gets to the solution later ^^
