Offside definitely has its place in the game and is a necessity but the VAR ruins a lot of the game flow. It may technically be correct that you are in offside if your nose is behind the defender, but in what world should that be an criteria?! You already have the on-field referee and the side-line referee and if they cannot determine if it is offside or not that should be enough. Another good option to use VAR is like in American football, where you have a certain amount of challenges as a trainer. There you can challenge a decision by the referee and only then will the images of the VAR used to determine the decision. But you only have like two challenges per team per game.

2022-11-29 07:52:52 +0000 UTCIf you are behind the last defender of the opposite team, when the ball is played, you are offside. It's so people can't sit and wait by the goal and "cherry pick" goals, they have to build up the play. If you are in front of the last defender you are okay. VAR (virtual assistant referee) helps the referee decide if the player was offside. Honestly I dislike it because it wastes time on chances that the referee couldn't even notice. You aren't allowed to be the tiniest bit ahead of the last defender.
