I'm with you. I as well remember the scandal, the hate, the hiatus and everything. As I said in my original post, I got attached to all the members once IZ*ONE debuted and I don't fault any of them for that mess. WY was literally a child at the time and it's very unjust to put that on her and that's why I even avoided mentioning her name. I didn't meant to take things to the negative side but just to give the girls a little bit of context about what was going on behind the scenes. Anyways, thank you for taking the time to reply as well. 😘

i mean yes it is not outright stated but i believe starship was one of the companies fined for bribery so it isn't as much speculation as you would think. The members that shouldn't have had their spots isn't named but the companies that were fined kinda exposed some of the members sadly. Also i agree with the above statement that sakura was very clearly the proper winner. I don't have anything against wonyoung but she very clearly did not have the fanbase yet to beat sakura by any shot. This was literally one of the points that made people suspicious of the ranking in the first place as well as kaeun suddenly dropping. What is worse is the starship wasn't only fined they were found to have tried to destroy evidence. In fact in total there was 2 people from starship, 1 from woollium, one from 8D and one from around us entertainments fined for bribery (just checked).

I rather not speculate in such controversial matters and stick to the facts. The reason being I remember the hate members got early on when the scandal hit. There was so much mindless speculation and misinformation thrown at the time. Eventually, the fans rallied to their side as the members had nothing to do with the rigging. Thankfully the public followed and rightfully placed the blame on the producers and the companies. You're maybe right about Mnet not wanting a foreigner as the center and why you think Sakura should've been 1st. The problem is those things shouldn't be treated as facts. We just don't know and not knowing who finished 1st or 12th etc is a good thing. There is a reason the real rankings were never revealed and that was to protect the members. Also remember that the top 20 was predetermined so rankings are even more up in the air. As a diehard wizone, I'm just happy all of the members are doing well. Anyways, I don't want to derail the comments and talk about the controversy too much as it was a unpleasant time for the members and wizones. Just wanted to get my point across. Thanks for reading and replying to me.

Although, you're right, there was no official confirmation of the real final rankings.. there were a lot of articles at the time that righteously leaked the truth about Chowon and Kaeun situation (later proved at the trial) and all of them lists Sakura in the 1st place, which was the obvious thing to happen given both her popularity and her previous weeks results. This was no Sejeong x Somi situation going head to gead every single week like on PD101.. it was actually a pretty clear victory. And I'm not saying that as a Sakura fan, which I definitely wasn't during PD48. It's all about Mnet shananingans and how they would never allow a foreigner to win their competition.

I keep seeing this misinformation about Sakura being 1st but there is no proof of this. The investigation found that Kauen and Chowon were rigged out and their rankings were also revealed. But none of the "real" rankings for the Izone members were ever shown nor who was rigged in.

she and bora did compete with some vocalist in V-1 show with WJSN Yeonjung & Deukae Siyeon but they were always so close to winning but never did 🥲

thinkofview

just fyi Wonyoung was only 13 at the time of this, she's 15 in Korean age but she turned 14 (intl. age) on the day of the produce finale. So that's why she looks extra baby, she *was* extra baby

claerchen xx

Yunjin is still close with Kaeun and she went to le sserafim’s concert recently and they posted pictures together! 😊 it was so nice seeing her again after so long

そら

I’d put her and Bora up against most other duos in K-pop.

Jinyatta

@31:08 from FNC Entertainment is Cherry Bullet's Haeyoon 🥰 i'm pretty sure both of you are going to like her throughout the show

I think the reason I like GP999 more than PD48 is that the first few episodes aren't as soul crushing.

I'll assume you are aware of the whole scandal of bribery and vote manipulation, by the mnet producer in charge of PD48, that affected the formation of IZ*ONE. During the trial, it was revealed in court that have the results not been altered, two contestants would've made to the TOP 12: Kaeun (the tall girl from Pledis) and Chowon from Cube (who's currently a member of Lightsum). Also revealed that Kura was robbed one position in the final ranking. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against any members of IZ*ONE. It's not their personal fault and all the wrongs were made by the agencies and production. I really like the members that debuted and I can't image IZ*ONE without then. But it's really upseting how two extremely talented girls were cheated to their chance of debuting, especially knowing how much that ended up really hurting their careers. Anyways.. I'm telling you this bc ofc it's something behind the scenes and you already know who debuted and who didn't. So I think it less frustrating following their journey with this in mind. And it's really worth keeping an eye on both of them.

When you do/if you do get to GP999 just remember that this is what people had seen from the Japanese trainees so some people had the idea that all trainees from Japan were at this level as far as skill level since the systems to train were different. It gets brought up again in GP999 so it’s just something to keep in the back of your mind for context when watching the beginning evaluation stage (basically episodes 1 and 2) of GP999.

Poor Hyewon HAHAH

ethan

There is a bit of lost-in-translation when it says the Starship trainees are "naughty." What they actually said in Korean is they are "like beagles" as if they are full of young puppy energy.
